I'm considering a cam, exhaust & emanage setup & I'm wondering...

What is the best way to tune for this setup? Timing, A/F ratio or both?

I've searched quite a bit and it seems that there are a number of opinions regarding timing and piggie backs.

One opinion is that cutting back air/fuel ratios will cause the ECU to advance timing. Is this true for a very modest, say -5% cutback durring open loop operation? I wouldn't think the ECU would react too much to -5% A/F ratio under wide open throttle. Also, I don't have to monkey with A/F if going all timing is better. Or visa, versa.

I guess my question is, what combination of timing vs A/F ratio is going to give me the best power gain on a N/A setup with cam, exhaust & 94 octane?

Also, my SOHC distributor doesn't rotate.

My understanding is that this is all done with the ECU.
