How feesable is this type of setup for the street? I want to put a VH in an S13. Living in California and using this as my daily means I need A/C, this would seem to be the only way with out a bunch of fabing. What do you guys think of this and do you have any other suggestions?

What do you mean how feasible is this for the street?

That's a factory VH41DE engine out of the FGY32 Cima (apart from the colouring).

The alternator just sits at the top on a VH41DE.

I didn't realize that was stock(never seen a VH41). Will that bolt up to a 45?

That setup only works on a VH41 since the block and head castings are different. Duplex vrs. Simplex timing chains, etc, etc. You really need to find a JDM VH41DE out of the Cima model mentioned above, or get creative on a US VH45DE. The US VH41DE is garbage compared to the other two and you don't want to make the sacrifices everywhere else just for the alternator placement.

Now if I use the Cima VH will there be room for the a/c compressor and power steering pump? If this will all work together(as it should) my only worry is headers.

Dose this particular VH cost any more than any other jdm VH?

I ripped out the a/c compressor on mine because I don't care about a/c. Power steering pump clears fine.

Headers have to be custom, no two ways about it. Hope you can weld :D

As far as I'm aware, it should be cheaper. Basically, you only want an engine up to 1994, I think they nerfed the 41s after that.

The reduced ones are the ones with the plastic covers over them, the good ones have the spider intake manifold. It won't take you much to tell the difference.

My transplant was into an HR31 Skyline coupe, but I've measured the engine bay and chassis rails of an S13 and my car to compare, and the engine bays are exactly identical (except for the crossmember.)

So if you want detailed photos & a build progress thread of the closest possible conversion to your own transplant, check out my build thread here. Lots of pics and info, all the problems you'll run into, I've covered already:

Thanks for the info and I will definitely read through your build again. How did it turn out btw? Any videos of it finished?

Thanks again.

Nah man, the heads are in a different city and I have yet to build a new set of extractors + full dual exhaust system. I get so sick of the grinder some days eh. My progress thread is fully up to date, so whatever my last update is, that's all I've done.
