What is the first thing in the engine i should replace if the engine has 150k mi on it and i am trying to add a turbo? Actually, what are all things i should check before i add pressure? (probably not more than 12-15psi)

Just do a compression check and make sure your numbers are within 5 of each other. If they are, your fine to boost it.

I'd start by checking compression

If the compression is good, it is still kind of scary to have a turbo on a 150k mile motor. What would the weak link be if somthing went wrong? i want to know what internals i should replace for protecting of the rest of the motor. I am guessing pistons first, but i know nothing :P

The owner's knowledge Seriously if you have to ask instead of searching for an answer you shouldn't be boosting a ka. This topic has been covered to death on this forum and every nissan forum on the intarweb.

If you have an sohc, just put a junkyard turbo kit on it and boost at a bar until it blows, and in the meantime you can get a blown sohc and rebuild it and wait to swap it in.

i am trying to learn more about this and i want to do it right the first time. Dont post on my thread calling me an idiot for asking a question. I am interested in this topic becuase cars are somthing i want to know alot about and i have been in and out of the posts and havent found a clear answer.

I was looking at the greddy turbo kit for the s14 ka24de but the car is a 93' s13 and dont know if it will work right. I want to do the kit b/c i feel it to be safer then me jerry-rigging somthing together from the junkyard or ebay.

If you get the greddy kit and don't overboost all you need to do is rebuild the engine. It's only when you really start boosting that you would need to build the internals. Even if you did build the ka24 e, it would cost way more than just getting an sr.

http://www.ka-t.org/forums/ OMG a whole website/club dedicated to the ka-t

zeroforum?id=170 Here's another.

My only concern is that you cannot master using the search feature to find something that is explained in great detail all over the intarweb. Ka's are very tempermental when it comes to turbocharging and things can go wrong very quickly.

The greddy kit is a little over priced but the welds and general overall quality and fitment is fantastic. I would sell the emanage that comes with it and get a real tuned ecu through JWT or whoever is doing them now. Greddy's kit is also internally wastegated.
