I had to have the DRLs (daytime running lights) installed to pass the Canadian Federal Inspection, since I imported my car from the US. I bought a kit from a company called Hamsar.

Here is the homepage:http://www.hamsar.com/

They have kits by applicationhttp://www.hamsar.com/drlappguide.asp

I bought the universal kit. I tried getting it done by a specialty place initially, but they didn't kno whow to do it on the Q. Always the same story with people not knowing how to do something on the Q lol. Anyway, so I bought th euniversal kit and had a friend install it for me.

I'd speak to one of their techs before buying. They helped me out a lot.

Here is another link of other companies that make DRLshttp://www.hamsar.com/competitor.asp

Regarding the Silverstars...yes they burn out a lot. The reason for that is quite simple. The universal DRL kit I bought is a cheaper kit. I wasn't able to find the better one and I needed to pass the inspection in a hurry. The difference is that the universal kit is keeps the lights working at full power, while the better one reduces the light output. Also, Silverstar bulbs have a shorter life span than standard bulbs producing a stronger light just as the long life bulbs put out a weaker light and do last longer than a standard bulb. I've had to replace 2 or 3 bulbs this year.

I believe they will last you much, much longer than mine if you don't have them on all day every time you drive your car like I do. My High Beams ahve not burnt yet and work great. I use them all all the time during night time driving when I'm alone on the road.

I'll be getting the Ultra's next time round.

Not my experience on any of my 3 Q45. Haven't replaced a SilverStar yet, one set has been in 5 years, the others at least 4.

I think T3 had one with 400K+ miles. Maybe Infiniti should offer mileage awards like Mercedes?

I tend to get between 2 and 3 years on a pair of silverstar low beams. I think my high beams are still OEM from 1990. In fact, I think they were OEM on Q1 at 200K. Shows you how much I get to use them
