I had to have the DRLs (daytime running lights) installed to pass the Canadian Federal Inspection, since I imported my car from the US. I bought a kit from a company called Hamsar.
Here is the homepage:

They have kits by applicationhttp://

I bought the universal kit. I tried getting it done by a specialty place initially, but they didn't kno whow to do it on the Q. Always the same story with people not knowing how to do something on the Q lol. Anyway, so I bought th euniversal kit and had a friend install it for me.
I'd speak to one of their techs before buying. They helped me out a lot.
Here is another link of other companies that make DRLshttp://

Regarding the Silverstars...yes they burn out a lot. The reason for that is quite simple. The universal DRL kit I bought is a cheaper kit. I wasn't able to find the better one and I needed to pass the inspection in a hurry. The difference is that the universal kit is keeps the lights working at full power, while the better one reduces the light output. Also, Silverstar bulbs have a shorter life span than standard bulbs producing a stronger light just as the long life bulbs put out a weaker light and do last longer than a standard bulb. I've had to replace 2 or 3 bulbs this year.
