I have an 06 M45 with 56,000. My warrenty runs out pretty soon. I was wondering what kind of problems people are having with there high milage M45's.

I personally think the motor and transmission will last many many more miles at least 150,000 to 200,000 miles. I think most of the problems in the future will be from electical grimlins.

I believe the Y34 has the same power plant and transmission so please post your miles and problems after warrenty.

I have over 105000. Car still does not want to stay on speed limit on TX highways.

My VH45 is 19 years old and has 322,000 miles nothing internal replaced except the chain guides and oil chain and it's guides.

The secret is just change oil and filter every 90 days regardless of the type or brand. Keep the engine clean by replacing oem engine air filter every year. AVOID any even mild overheats by keeping rubber hoses as new and checking all fluid levels every week to fix any leaks BEFORE they become destructive.

The newer VK45 use more oil [to increase power output by reducing ring friction] so important to check weekly and maintain correct oil level.

Also, with the old heavier duty RE04 we install auxiliary ATF coolers such as B&M 70268 and 70264 to modulate ATF temperature spking and prolong transmission clutch life. The later G50 also had an external ATF filter. Periodic mechanical ATF exchanges and interior O ring and screen replacements have also helped extend life to 175K and beyond.

The big bugaboo on the F50, Y34 and presumably the Y50 is the load of electronics. HID ballasts on F50 are a failure, and some NAV units have gone south also. Get only the Nissan backed extended warranty.

Look in the Infiniti General Forum for a recent post by a lady who works for one of our good sponsors Infiniti of Scottsdale for a great price on the Nissan extended warranty.

With all the mileage you have, no problems with transmission? How often do you change fluid?

I'm mostly concerned with the electronics also. I'll be ticked when the factory bumper to bumper runs out in september of this year. Good thing powertrain goes till 70k.

I'll check out the extended warranty from "infiniti" but other no name warrantee products out there will get no activity from me. I've heard to many horror stories to go that route.
