Bought a HiD for my pathfinder today, cheap one.

I know it's H4 for the headlight, so it's better to be a bi- XENON, so the low beam and high beam could both work. But for the HID i bought, it only comes with one position beam. After the install,HID only works when I turn the head light position to high beam. I am ok with only one beam working ,cause the hid is bright enough. My question is, is there any possible I can turn the headlight to low beam Position, and HID still works?

Thanks for the help, and for you guys who want to buy a HID, spend a little more ,go get a BI-XENON HID set.

the stock headlight harness has three prongs: negative, low and hi. Your relay harness is getting its signal power from the hi beam socket on your stock headlight wiring.... you need to simply unplug it from hi and plug it into low.

and i agree - i got the bixenon and i like having 2 options: bright, and daylight

I don't see why it matters which beam position the switch is on... I would think it's more important to know what the beam pattern it's actually projecting!

re: ray-peg

I hope you have the correct pattern and aim... because it's a lot more trouble than it's worth if it's mis-aimed.

I don't understand why you skimped out on getting the bi-xenon in the first place. I would just get one now, and put the current kit on the side. Sure, it's spending more money, but sometimes, it's worth it.

Oh, fyi, please don't say you're a student with no job and living off parents allowance or money is tight for rent, or something like that... cause if you can't afford the "better" kit, why waste money buying a "bad" one?

true, but the position that the combination switch is in, matters too... when its in high beam its farther away from the steering wheel so you cant comfortably reach the turn signal with the tips of your fingers with hands on the wheel.... also theres an annoying blue lamp on the gauges for high beam.

I agree with this. With something as important as headlights don't half @ss it. I wont get into the whole HID in the wrong reflector because it's been beat to death and people are going to do what they want to do whether it's "wrong" or not or their not educated on the matter.

thanks for the tip

the solution is actually quite easy, the harness goes like this way, so just simplely plug those wires in to low and nagative, done

Please don;t blame me anymore ,I have already regreted for not getting the BI -xeon so much...

empty v, no offense but putting chinese HID bulbs in nissan reflectors is no worse than putting chinese HID light on your roof rack. I think its funny how youve been slamming HID's ever since you got those la paz lites. U never said anything before. When its the same exact s***. I'd like to see the cutoff pattern of those lites by the way (to see if my theory is right or wrong) I know they are off-road only... but damn dont you love the brightness!

No offense dude, but 97% of the HID products are made in China(I did this paper 2 years ago in my marketing course), the other 3% made in south Korea,. Those HIDs in AUDI, MB, AND LEXUS,Even Bosch(only oem on BMW), they are all made in China, just different quality. On my j30, I bought a set of HID made in China 4 years ago, it's like 400 dollar that time, I use them every single day, still work great and bright like hell.

Overall, for those HID, I think if you wanna go for high quality, jsut pay a little extra, doesn't really matter where they made from, good quality is good quality, cheap piece sh*t is cheap piece sh*t, and I bought the wrong one.

yeah rtheyre all made in china or korea. Baja designs is 15 mins from my house, they say MADE IN USA on the box but i know for a fact they just assemble that stuff with 100% chinese parts.

Well I think you just answered your own question. If everyone is using their HID's for offroad I think it's great, but they're not. Plus the reflectors and lenses in my lights are designed for a wide beam but they are not designed for optimal light output with an HID lamp. If they were meant for headlights the bulb would not be directly visible from the front and the reflectors would be completely different. Since they're not designed as headlight it's okay to have the lamp exposed but I would redesign the reflectors and lenses.

The only difference between the halogen version and the HID version is the actual light emitting device. Which I think is really hoaky considering that a single halogen lamp retails for $140 and the HID version goes for $350. So for a pair of HID lights you pay over $420 solely for an HID kit. I'd smoke to that! And that doesn't even include the wiring harness or switches.

It was just a coincidence that those topics came up around the same time I won my lights. I've been working with and have built HID lights for years. Mostly for diving and studio (HMI Lights) purposes. My current dive light is a 50w HID with a 6 hour batter that would normally retail for about $3K.

I've got HID's. Those KC's look sick! They look like they've got some really solid metal construction too. The whole reason I went to the off-road show (that I won my lights at) was to check out lights and I was pretty much set on these Hella Rallye Compact 4000's in the Halogen version. BTW what's up with your x-fer case? You ever get that sheeet fixed? Sorry to totally threadjack ray-peg, we're being total d!ck right now.

my 4wd works but makes noise. so i only use it when its absolutely necessary - 2wd makes offroading a lot more fun though. Ive been exploring anza borrego desert the past few months - i know of several trails that are 2wd friendly but still challenging to your suspension and tires, and a whole lot of fun. I go out there in 2wd all day long - if ya wanna join me, youre more than welcome... you would have a blast. and its not far from you! ill even be out there tomorrow - sunday.... my qx4, with a 4runner and a WD pathfinder...

I'm game for sure. I just got off the phone with the guy who's still working on getting me my wheels. They're trying to work a deal with Lexani(distributor) and once that's settled I'll be getting a much better deal. I hit a flat on my current tires last time out. Mt tread is pretty worn down so I'm a**'d out until I can get these wheels and some new tires, which will hopefully be soon. I feel like a broken record right now.

So how was it? The weather must have been incredible out there. I think it's supposed to be 85* down in SD today.
