Hey Guys,

My 89 240 ka starts to idle at like 1800 after driving a little harder or shifting at like 3200-3500. If i keep the speed below 70 for the length of my drive and shift between 2500-3000 she stays at 1100, which sounds fine.

I was just told that she may be misfiring, which is a quick fix. I don't think she is though. Everything else about her is perfect. she doesn't overheat, her transmission is great.

Anyone have the same problem?

I'm not a pro mechanic and this is my first car to get to play around with. I want to fix her basics before i get going any harder.

Any help would be great!

Thanks!

you may need to clean your injectors a bit as it is possible that the injector is not atomizing the fuel all the way at wide open throttle..cousing some fuel to puddle in the intake or pool....then when your at idle..it runs high due to the extra fuel it has to burn...just try some injector cleaner to see if this helps..good luck.

how do i do that? is it something simple that i can do in weekend afternoon or should i have my mechanic do this?

I've never done this, so i don't want to cause more damage by going handy man on her.

Thanks man! I'm gonna go buy some of that stuff when i get some more change. I figured there had to be a simple way to get about doing this.

Thanks again. I'll let you know if it works for sure!
