hey.
i have a 1990 ka24e and every since i have had it it has always idled at 1k but recently it has been high like up to1300 and when i give it gas it sounds like it wants to die but goes back up. ive tried adjusting the idle, change the timing from advanced to retard and in between, messed with the bolt to adjust the throttle. ive cleaned out the iacv-aac and seafoamed the engine. i have also change the spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributer cap and rotor(seems the cap and rotor are wearing out fast). still no changes.

here are a few things wrong with it. theres a leak from the power steering and it leaks a little from the valve cover. there also seems to be a vacuum leak but i cant find it and my headers that connect to the downpipe is missing a bolt so there could be an exhaust leak that i cant hear cuz of my cat back. it also seams that my alternator could be going bad too. i hear a clicking noise like if a lobe is messed up and sounds like the injectors are making a loud squiting noise

so if anyone out there can help me i would be a happy camper.
thanks

Is the TB heater circuit bypassed? You know, the one that circulates hot engine coolant through the throttle body. There is a wax-filled part in there that lets the engine idle down when the coolant reaches operating temperature. It is not uncommon for people to bypass this circuit in hopes of lowering the temperature of the intake charge; but when ambient temperatures drop below about 60 degrees farenheit, this part never knows that the engine has warmed up, so it idles high like a cold engine should.

There would be two hoses to the TB, one in and one out.

I doubt it, but you could blow some air through it with your mouth and see if it flows. I wish I knew the name of the wax-filled part (the FSM should have a diagram) then it would be possible to search for more information.

Someone might be right, hell, I'm not even sure of the parts name. Our FSM's are downloadable free to members if you want to research it.

I don't know the table of contents by heart, but I'm guessing it would be under one of the following: fuel/air, induction, fuel and air supply, emissions equipment (only halfway sure on this one), engine controls.
