ok i own a 95' 240sx and the other night i was cleaning up the engine bay a little bit so i unscrewed the bolts holding down the intake system to clean it off but did not disconnect anything on it and did not take it out of the engine. the next day i started up the engine and it was idling at 1200 rpm. and a little bit rough. it is still idling at 1200 rpm but is not as rough anymore and i noticed the idle lowered down after the engine warmed up and i had driven it a little bit. im not sure why it is doing this cuz it was running perfectly fine before (idling about 700-800 rpm). i havent tried adjusting the idle so any help would be thankful.

i took it back out tonight and i can confirm that after the engine warms up the idle goes back to normal. other than the idle it runs great. maybe its always idled high on a cold engine? i guess ive never really checked

???????? so your saying that before, when the engine was cold it idled at 700rpm??

it sounds like it was "broken" before. the car is supposed to idle at 1100-1200rpm and then it lowers as the engine temp rises.

whatever you did you fixed it :pface

Your cars idle at 1200 rpm when it's cold? Wow... mine's up there close to 1800 or so. Idles at 700 when warm though.

oh, i guess i never really took the time to check the idle when the engine was cold. i think i was a little worried about it cause it seemed a bit rough but it runs fine and it drops back down to 700 rpm after warmed up.

My car likes to act up sometimes...Normal idle when cold is around 1,200 rpm, when warm 700rpm...Sometimes my idle becomes unstable were it drops down to 500rpm then up to 1,000rpm and it sounds like its choking at 500rpm...Then I pop the hood and play with the wire that is connected to the MAF and it goes back to normal...Anyone have any idea what the problem is or for that matter how to fix it?

hmmm.... i guess if its a connection problem u could re-wire the waires into the connector if its possible. i havent looked to see if u could do this without replacing anything but im sure its possible
