I am wondering what could cause my idle to hold at like 1200 rpm even after the car has warmed up? I know it isnt my idle control valve because the problem comes and goes on a weekly basis. one week it sits at 800 rpm where i set it and the next it sits at 11-1200 rpm. when i first disengage the clutch the idle settles to ~800, then raises and sits at 1200. doesnt seem like the car is running rich.

It is not the AC compressor being on.

The gas pedal is returning all the way to the close position.

Could it be coolant temp sensor?

the air regulator opens and lets air into raise idle when the temperature is low ie at start. If it does not close , you will have a high idle. warm the car up, and squeeze the hose that branches off metal pipe taking air to aav.It should be closed and squeezing it should not affect idle. If idle is affected, the air regulator is at fault.
