I spent about 2 hours trying to figure out why I couldn't get my base idle to where it needed to be (S1 RB25Det, FMIC, 3in turbo back exhaust). After racking my brain, I decided to start playing around with sh*t. I pulled the purple plug on the iacv, and everything "got right."

The purple plug is the FICD, correct? if so, what would cause that to be engaged all the time? I ran it all day yesterday and today with the purple plug off, and it ran great! if that is not the ficd and in fact the iacv plug, then please someone enlighten me!

I was following instructions straight from the FSM, and using Datascan to monitor engine inputs.

Thanks for any help!

the purple plug in the iacv is infact FICD. On the RB25, the FICD is used to compensate for the load when the A/C is on. If it is constantly on, then it is wired incorrectly.

If you wired up your A/C, then you wired up the FICD incorrectly. FICD should only be activated when A/C is on (compressor is engaged).

If you didn't wire up A/C, then just unplug the FICD.

I had McKinney Motorsports do the wiring. I've heard that other things can bring on the ficd, like the defrost (I think defrost turns on A/C anyways), but I dont know. I would assume the Mckinney's wiring would be correct. Any ideas on where to start looking for wiring problem? everything else is working fine. Any other Ideas? I am content to drive it with the ficd unplugged, but just would rather have it fixed, ya know? I wanted to tackle A/C this spring, so it'd be nice to have ficd there. Thanks!
