The FSM lists fuel pressure for the E motor in a 240sx at 30psi idle and 40psi @ 0 vacuum.

I tested my fuel pressure but couldn't start the car because the tester hose sprayed out fuel. Anyway, despite that my fuel pressure hit about 47-50psi with fuel spraying out. Am I doing something wrong or do I need an adjustable FPR?

I spliced into the line between the filter & rail with a T and simply turned the key. Do I need the motor running?

What's the deal here?

to test the fuel pressure properly you need to have no leeks (fuel filter ok spot) in your line. With the car running you check pressure. By turning the key you simply are turning on the fuel pump and supplying fuel to your rail. To check with no vacuum simply unattach the vacuum line from the regulator. An fpr is a good way to constantly monitor your pressure.

if fuel was spraying out, u need to not make fuel spray out. the car won't start without fuel........

u need to put a gauge where u put that tester line. those numbers are fine.

LOL - some things you just let pass.

Looks like fuel should be 33-43. I'm going to get a tester that doesn't leak and try it with the motor running. I was wondering if the test needed to be performed this way or could be done with out motor running. I'll just spend the $35 and be done with it.

OK my pressure tested at 38 idle and 47 at 0 vacuum. This shouldn't through off m tuning by much should it?
