If any of you guys lurk on the skylines australia and skylines down under forums like i do, you may have seen those guys mention a high flow turbo as one of their mods. To me, their advantages highly surpass any of th edisadvantages you could come up with so I am looking to find somebody in the states that will do it, does anyone know of anybody? If so I would appreciate it so that I could contact them to find out some more info. Thanks

I've also been reading a little about highflowing the turbo's that came with our motors... it's very interesting... the aussie's claim that a company called GCG (something like that) is the place to go when you want your turbo highflowed... they have two options....a.)ball bearing b.) something called a bush?... i can't remember it was late anyways....they were claiming that the newly high flowed turbo (rb25det) beable to flow up to 220kw... i believe that's 339hp... thats fukkin nutz on a stock turbo!I imagine if you could source the parts ... that any turbo rebuilder could fix you up real good... i read on skylinesdownunder that it's easy enough for someone to do it themselves... if that's a fact... it wouldn't be that bad of a DIY

I'm seriously considering the DIY, but if im going to be pushing 18+ psi on a turbo, i'd like to have a shop make sure the shaft is perfectly balanced and what not. Anyways, I checked CGC in aust. and it just isn't practical through them because of shipping costs. They quoted me ~$200 USD for shipping one way. I'm currently checking on the ability of most turbo rebuilders to perform a high flow, i know of one locally and will be checking out what they say tomorrow.

gcg upgrading costs ~$1500 US+200 shipping=$1700?? why bother?I think the Aussies do it to retain stock looking apperance due to their conformity laws.

i

I agree with you on this, but if i can get it done cheaper locally, i won't have to worry about that now will I? I'll keep everyone updated w/ any information i find out regarding this, I know its possible i just have to find someone reputable that is able to do it. Thanks for all the replies. If anyone knows of any places that can perform an upgrade like this, please let me know.

depends if you can. It may be cheaper to just go with another turbo.

it may be, it may not be, what would be your choice for a turbo that doesn't require a new manifold or downpipe that would support 300hp and not be a rb25det turbo or z31 turbo?

stock turbo. Someone has done 275whp with an untuned PFC and greddy manifold. He ws running 8psi. Imagine 12psi?I personally have a t3/t4 running 15psi with a stock manifold. costs $395, dump pipe costs $300. I might have been able to keep the stock turbine housing and also kept the stock dump pipe. But I sold the stock turbo for $200.So all in all I lost out on $495 but I have a larger dump pipe and more boost.
