good find, but they don't say if it will be for KA24DE or KA24E...

also $$$$$$$$$$

i have yet to see a KA-T fail because the stock oil pump couldn’t supply enough oil

according to the picture it's for the DOHC. while I agree with your statment if you're rebuilding the motor and the cost isnt that much over a stocker, why not go with a higher volume pump?

For us SOHC people the 280x turbo fuel pump is a direct replacement/upgrade for the stock oil pump and it flows higher volume. They can be had for 75$ on http://www.hybridka.com (I'm planning on getting one for the motor i'm rebuilding)

Sweet find for DOHC people though

How exactly do you replace the oil pump? Thanks

The high flow Toga pump goes for $199 at:

http://www.importperformanceparts.net/

$165 for the "OEM" top-line pump.

Its a real pain. You need to remove the crank pulley and lower timing cover... More a weekend job than an afternoon one, and you can run into some potential problems if things arent done right.

A nice DIY with pics would be sweeeet, though. I'd do it myself but, heh, the job is a little different when your block is laying sideways on the garage floor with 8 holes in it.

mwaahaha i love the SOHC motor. I'll get off my lazy *** and take apart the oil pump and do a write up for the SOHC motor since i do have that paperweight sitting on the stand...

for the sohc oil pump its really easy to change oil pumps.... 10-15 min max. All you do is jack up the car, take out the four bolts holding the oil pump to the block, remove the pump, allign the pump shaft and housing then install and tighten bolts... Check your timing and adj. as needed. Also its very easy to throw your timing off a tooth so you may wanna pop off the distributor cap and check the rotor position.

agreed, it'd just be cool for everyone I think if there was a more detailed writeup w/ pictures and torque specs of the bolts I think.

no problem, just make sure to set the #1 cyl. to TDC compresson stroke then begin disassembling everything that way you can install the pump shaft in the correct position with out worrying about it being off a tooth, even tho the gears are helical so they do rotate on installation just try to compensate for timing using the distributor if at all possible.

To make you oil pump pump at a higher rate all you do is unbolt the large bolt head at the bottoom of the lower timing chain cover. Then get you 2-3then put 2-3 washers on top of the spring and that's it. It works very well. That's plenty of oil pressure.

Pressure and volume are two different things, pumps with more volume capacity have larger internal rotors.

fyi, that is not a picture of any ka lower timing chain cover/pump. the bolt locations are all wrong and it isnt even tall enough to meet with the uper cover.~Sam

FWD maybe?... no on second thought that looks like a picture for a Honda oil pump.
