:naughty: OK I've been looking and haven't had much luck. I want to build a high compression vg30de na. I want to go kinda big like 14:1 (maybe). I'm looking to make 350whp. What all do I need to do this. When can I find good parts. I want to do this over the next year or so. I have the extra motor. I want to put some big cams in and go atleast .040 over. Any good info I can get will be great. I just got rid of my 400whp 240sx. I don't want turbo any more. I want nasty snappy tq. No I don't want to swap in a ls. I want a VG. I don't like swapping motors I like building them. My 240 was a ka24de. But thanks to anyone that has some good info.

Not going to happen, There's little chance of getting that much power out of an unboosted VG. I've no doubt you could get 300 if you built it well and it would live, not be a dyno queen. I would think 12:1 would be more than enough. With no boost you may be able to explore larger displacement, but are you going to try and crank the revs higher? Not sure how fast the VG likes to spin before it turns into an air cooled engine. Please take your time, vet your decisions and don't cheap out on the critical areas. We need more engines that look like this.

And sound like this.

Lol. We do. I've been look high and low. But I think the bast path is to drop a ls1 in it. Im not a big fan of swaps but the pros of the ls is just to much higher of a score then the con's. Its way lighter and can make 400hp with just light bolt ons.

BTW my shift brace broke. Letting the shifter fall down. Could I just weld the bracket that looks the letter A holding the shifter. I was thinking I could just weld it up so I wouldn't need the brace

Weld a middle plate to the brace. You want that brace for removal and installation later on. It would be a pain other wise.

LS is a good option, easy to make power. Ever thought about a VH45DE, very underrated engine with a lot of potential. LS has a ton of upgrades and VH has none, so that would give a nod toward the LS. Just a thought.

Yeah I thought of the VH, but like you said there's no afrer market for it really. Most part are custom made. But stock it makes killer power. But the ls motor is got the market out there like a sr20 Lol.

In regards to your original question; it has been done, throughout my years of learning and searching everything VG I have seen a random video here and there of VGs with raised compression, not exactly sure to what. I don't remeber the exact numbers but I believe honad was able to put close to 200 to the wheels from a lightened to hell (driveline and all) stock engined NA, you'd have to search the forums. As for HC VG, its possible just like everything else, with enough cash. It will never be worth it unless you want the bragging rights. Figure about 5k for lightened rotating assembly with shaved crank and custom rods and pistons as well as another 5k into a full titanium camtrain with custom grinds on the cams. A hell of a lot of custom tuning, custom intake and exhaust manifolds designed to provide the proper scavenging, etc, etc, etc. Theoretically (from an engineering standpoint) YES it can be done, realistically unless you are willing to drop a massive sum of cash and still be eaten alive by some of the mildly built TTs then it's not possible. The VG30DE was designed with boost in mind, it was the basis for the massive intake manifold, the port sizing, the cams, etc. I once had a dream of building some one off stuff, even went as far as doing design and calculations on sizing ITBs, lower plenum, ambient air charge chambers, and some other goodies but at the end of the day I gave up because it was way to expensive to build those one offs. Instead I spent an egregious amount of money on my TT and couldnt be happier. If you don't want to do a bastard swap (thats what I call it when you end up with a SBC or 2JZ in a Nissan) then I would suggest going the route so many others have taken, build a TT out of your NA (since you already have the engine) all you really need to do internally is install some low comp forged pistons or even some factory TT pumpers which can be had for next to nothing. Going that route however, all your money will go to the bolt-ons starting with turbos and factory or custom piping all the way to the oil lines, boost controller, and other little s*** and bits.

Yeah. Lol I hear that. I found a low mile 4.5l v8 from a newer Porsche that I thought would be cool to drop in it. Be a on of a kind in a way. But it would take a lot to drop in. But in stock form the 4.5l cayenne v8 makes 340awhp that would be beast in a 300zx

It would be a pretty cool swap and I for one would spend a day or two swinging from the nuts of whoever pulled that off but in reality once again by the time its all said and done you will have spent enough to build a 500+ hp TT or LS1. If I was to build a batshitcrazy Z32 I think I'd be looking at sourcing something big and flat, a flat 8 would make amazing sounds and with the inhernet near perfect balance it would make for a great revhappy track car.
