ok well what i was wondering is do u think 12.1 c.r. is still low enough to run on 93 octane, i mean i say yes and i'm planinng to run it unless there was enough prove not to, and what would be a good bore size not much bigger just a lil, thanks

i wouldn't run 12:1 compression with 93 octane. i don't think it's impossible, but it gets to the point where you'll be doing so much to keep from detonating that whatever gains just wouldn't be worth it.

Your gonna run 12:1 everyday car, i dont think you should if its a everyday car what are you doing rebuilding the whole bottom end right now or what??

a simple timing retard will allow you to run high comp. at the track or when you have high octane fuel , but then you can retard your timing to run lower grade fuel , and the cool thing is that the timing retard has an in car mounted knob to control timing , so you dont have to mess with the dist. if i were going all-motor i would definitly go with atleast 12:1 .

oh ok but when your driving around with 12:1 and really retarded timing arent you gonna be wasting tons o fuel and its gonna run like a pig right??

it's easy to retard your timing to prevent detonation, but it gets to a point where it just isn't worth it. running higher compression with more retard isn't as good as a lower compression with more advance.

I dont think you should plan on running 12:1 or over compression unless.

1. You plan on running 96+ pump gas or better

2. Have other means of detonation prevention (water/alchol injection, etc...)

I would say stick to 11:1 and run the best pump gas you can, octane booster can aid in your timing advance ventures.

with tuning it should be possible and not to bad, i dotn get it thne why hondas run 12.8 on 94 gas what do they have thats special and on ka24de.com they have a coil pack to replace the dis. with all the settings to adjust u timing with ease, and for the people who say no then what do u think is the highest c.r.

completely agree. if you are still interested, there are a few (good, not shady) companies that will make you a set of high compression pistons for a good price.

has anyone ever used wate/alch injection on a high compression KA?

no i would say 114 on 12:1 but if you have a timing retard you can adjust your timing to run that it just wont be as fast , im just saying just b/c you have high comp doesent mean you have to run that every day ,even if you dont have a timing retard you can turn your dist little by little until it rund decent than mark that spot on the dist and when you put 114 octane in you can advance your dist back to stock or however it runs best and go racing , then when your done racing turn it back to the spot you had it and off you go with low octane

So how much timing advance is a good thing on a ka24de? What kind of gains will I see out of it on a stock ka w/ I/E (Soon to be IHE).

bout 21 degrees an depends on the car, ive seen some run mid or even high 15's with i/h/e, an others stock like mine cut a 15.5 or some run a 15.3 with just exhaust. Youll notice the biggest difference with headers an exhaust but dependin on the car easily low 15's. Get an lsd an some sticky tires an im sure you could cut a 14.9 with i/h/e

You say 21 degrees, what is it set at typically? How many degrees of advance is it? Thanks.

probly 91 ( the highest i can get at the pump ) and see how it runs maybe a little timing adjustment , but i plan on milling the head a little and see if i cant pull off 12:1
