I just got my car running with a sr turbo. Now I hit the boost limiter and have the boost gauge hitting 12psi. I am using the stock waste gate. Well every thing is stock down to the air filter except the turbo and exhaust. The exhaust is very free flowing. It runs rough when slowing down in 5th (letting up on the the throttle a little to module speed around 70mph)I also have found that it spudders when boost is around -2 to 4 pounds and then it takes off til limiter interviences. I don't want to run more that 8-10. I am new to turbos and I didn't know if there is anything I can do to cut the boost down without buying a high dollar boost controler. any advice would be great. I did check timing and it is at 14*.

a boost controller cannot reduce boost past the mechanical setting of the actuator spring, only increase it.

so any ideas on what to do about the boost.

I think I figured out the spuddering in 5th. I guess I am just dogging it at 65 and 70 and the stock fuel pump can't keep up the demand of fuel. I have planned on getting a walbro but I wanted to see it run and drive semireliably (mechanically) before I invest in the other parts of the car. This is my first import. The car learned on was a warmed over 73 malibu.

You shouldn't be hitting the boost cut at 12psi. Fix your fuel pump deficiency.

The ca mafs cut out at around 190 hp so it could be boost cut.

Your spuddering sounds like a boost leak. check recheck then check again all of your IC piping and couplers.

my car hits boost cut at 12 psi too, sr20 turbo, etc...altho the stock boost setting on the stock sr20 wastegate actuator is 7 psi. Are you sure youre getting a good strong signal to the wastegate. Make sure you are teeing off your FPR vacuum for the wastegate signal, if its still running 12, you better check your wastegate actuator for stickyness.

im running a full 3" catless exhaust and i still never go past 7 on my low setting.
