have a 92 240sx, I've tried replacing the whole headlight housing but the high beams still dont work when I put them on, everything just goes black. I have no idea what it could be. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Have you checked the fuses for the headlights? If its not the fuses it sounds like a dimmer switch problem.

I believe that nissan used one fuse for the left high beam and another fuse for the right high beam, and other fuses for the low beams, tail lights etc. They should be located on the fuse panel that is under the hood.

checked the fuses and nope...neither of them were blown.... would it still be the dimmer switch if the lights in the interior dim like they're supposed to??? Let me know.

nope... dont have any fender lining removed, had the splash shield removed for a while cause it was pretty old and torn... but the first thing i did do was check the fuses and they werent blown, but this question about this dimmer switch, where is this located?

Not sure about the location of a dimmer switch..... could this really be the problem?? Surprised more people havent had this problem.

The switch is part of the turn signal switch on 240's. It is different than the one for the dash lights.

The turn signal switch that you use to turn on your blinkers is on the front left of the column. I believe that you would have to remove the steering wheel to get at the actual switch, but you should be able to get at the wiring and check that under the kick panel.
