I just need to find the relay for the high beam in my '03 pathfinder. I need to because my high beam function has just about ceased working, unless I turn the high beam on and off repeatedly very fast. Location needed! :yesnod

No relay... All the power goes through the wiring harness and through the combination switch on the steering column.

My first guess would be your switch is going bad. Pretty sure you don't need to pull the steering wheel as the switch can be unscrewed from center part.

Thank you for the reply, if the switch is going bad then at least now I know what is causing the problem for sure.

The above is true for US models; Canadian ones have a daytime running light module that power flows through as well, and it's fairly common for that module to fail at around this age.

However, if moving the switch quickly causes the lights to flash on, then it's most likely the switch that is going bad.

its strange because the dash will indicate the high beam being on when the switch is in position, regardless of whether the high beams are actually on.

Really need to check that, the indicator light gets power from same circuit that powers one of the highbeams. Yes the left and right side are wired seperately due to heavy amount of current that must pass though the switch / harness.

As Densetsu noted if you have the daylight control module and either high beam on / or pulling back for passing turns on the indicator but not the lights everytime then you likely need to replace that controller.

If yours is hard wired USA model, then maybe one of your lights is actually switching to highbeam but not both.

I replaced the switch, didnt make any difference as the problem still persists.

Problem solved, replaced control module for HID kit and the high beam now works. Now the high beam indicator on the dash has failed. Bulb is fine but either the bulb adapter or the contacts on the circuit board of the tachs has worn away. smh
