Whats up fellas,

This question is for anyone who has put in HIDs. I was wondering what the best brands are for these conversion kits (my price range is around 200). I was looking into McCulloch 6000k HIDs and they look pretty sweet. I'm going for the 6000k's because they have both the pragmatic function of greater light output with the aesthetic slight blue tint. Oh, also I have a 2.5s CVT. I don't know if that changes anything for those of you who have installed the HIDs onto the 3.5se. And does anyone know a good company or website to order these from? Last question, is this legal if NY? Lol, any suggestions? Thanks in advance

Cheers,Kevin

That's a very common mistake... 6000K does NOT put out more light, maximum light output is from 4300K and 5000K... above that, you actually decrease light output slightly!

McCulloch is a good brand. I have a set of them in my fogs. A lot of folks seem to go the 6000k route but I'd have to object to it. 4300 or 5000 is best for light output as Robert already suggested.

Listen to these fellas because they know their sh**. (i thought maybe I could *** kiss my way to a custom title)

Also look up my original posting of "HID's installed and Ballast placement" thread. You can see where/how I installed my McCulloch 6000k HID kit.

This is the website from which I ordered my kit: http://www.xenonpros.com/mc6000k.html

Yea, I have 6000K HIDs and if I could do it again I would go 5000K. They're a little too blue for my taste but I can live with them.

I got mine for 72.50 off ebay. X-Lights. I'll find you a link if you want. Generic is the one who first put the X-Lights in and they seem like they are going to last quite a while.

Thanks for your input guys! I'm still debating but does anyone know if this is legal in NY? I heard it's illegal in other parts of the states.

Cheers,Kevin

Aftermarket HID systems technically AREN'T legal. There was some major changes to this industry a few years back. Of course people are still selling and buying. Most towns won't even notice IMO, cars are coming stock with HID's now a days. Unless you have an obnoxious set of HID's with a funky color to them

Tyler is right... also, remember, alot of the earlier headlights did not have good cutoffs, thus you could really tell when a car has aftermarket HID's as the glare was unbearable for oncoming traffic. Now, with the way alot of the headlights hae built in cutoffs, sure its not as nice as the factory HID's (the cut offs I mean) but its still a heck of a lot better than the older headlights!

Ahhhh...I see I see...Even if it is illegal I feel like cops wont be able to really tell if they are illegal because I dont think many of them carry around a light or photon measurer or whatever it is. But I was talking to this guy I know who owns an auto shop and he said it would be like 200 bucks for just the bulbs and another 400 for ballasts. What the heck?
