6000K denotes 6000 Kelvin. Its an indicator of how much energy is expended to produce optimum lighting as it relates to sun light. The higher the Kelvin number, the closer your to producing sunlight. However, the higher the Kelvin the more wattage is required to produce that light which can tax/damage your electrical system.
For reference a run-of-the-mill Halogen bulb runs at 3200K-3800K to produce optimum lighting. However Halogen bulbs produce a less intense diffused "dirty" light as opposed to HIDs which produce a more concentrated pure white light which is better for night time illumination.
PIAA makes some nice efficient aftermarket HID bulbs which are slightly cheaper than Nissan OEM. The produce H4 HIDS that produce 110 watts of light at 4000K while using only 55watts from your vehicle electrical system.
Keep in mind that HID technology is still fairly new and that quality bulbs are still pricey.
