I have a new aftermarket head unit with a GPS antenna on it. I would like to hide the GPS antenna underneath the dash. Has anyone done this successfully? If so, where did you mount it? Would it be possible to mount it between the dash and the instrument panel?

got mine installed at Bestbuy and they put the gps Antenna on my dash on the top right, right next to the top right tweeter, where the windshield glass meets the car... thought it was a great spot.. dont think u should hide under dash, Satellite signals have to find it and it may be a poor singal...

Would it be possible to snake the wire up by the sunglasses holder? I don't have the powered mirror so there should be some room there to stick the receiver.

just keep in mind putting it up there will put it behind the stock "tint strip" that goes across the windshield that may effect the signal.

Hiding your antenna is not a good idea.

Here are the reasons to have an external antenna.

•For use in a vehicle where the GPS receiver cannot or will not be placed near a window.
•For use when hiking under heavy tree cover or in canyons.
•For use in urban canyons (tall buildings).
•For use any place that the receiver doesn't have a good view of the sky.
•To minimize temporary loss of signal when in a vehicle in motion.
•To maintain the best possible accuracy by having a lock on the greatest number of satellites.
