Even though Qs aren't exactly a hot commodity among the 'Gone In 60 Seconds' set, I will soon be installing a hidden kill switch on mine -

Current thinking is to disable the FPC, so that the engine starts (and maybe moves the vehicle a short distance) before dieing. Hopefully, the thief would be stranded in a high-visibility location when the engine finally stalls. As a side benefit, installing a switch to shut off the fuel pump also simplifies the job of relieving fuel pressure prior to filter replacements, TB cleaning, etc.

As part of the same project, I am considering using a second set of contacts on the hidden kill switch to disable the trunk release. This would prevent someone from gaining access to valuables locked inside the trunk by smashing a window and pushing the trunk release button.

Anyone else done something similar? Comments/suggestions?

I made a kill switch for a older Chevy, but my '94 Q has its factory alarm (honks). If I hear it honking, I can call the police & then kick their ***, ha ha.

I've done hundreds of kill switches on many different vehicles. You sound like you pretty much know what you are going to do. Do you need help with any specific issues what?

I always like doing really creative activation/deactivation switches. I've used everything from OEM power window switches, parking light switches, OEM cig. lighters, magnetic switches, cruise control switches, and more. All done with keeping the OEM function working as well (except for the cig. lighter) whenever possible.

I could make up some diagrams for you if you specify what you want to do exactly or what specific circuits you want to disable. I have some vehicle diagrams but I might need you to take some photos and/or provide some wire colors, polarity, etc.

it woudl be cool to put a kill switch on like a 20 second timer... Just FYI the car wont start with the fuel pump fuse disengaged.....

If you want a REAL kill switch, i would put it on the injector fuse... But the fuel pump would make it die a slower death.

That's surprising - You'd think that there would still be enough pressure in the fuel lines to run the engine for at least a few seconds...Maybe the ECU senses that the fuel pump isn't drawing any power, and immediately shuts off spark?

qsi, I've already got the wiring diagrams for the car - The problem is identifying the appropriate wires as they pass through the driver's area. Ideally, I'd like to switch a low-current control wire, rather than route the fuel pump's entire DC supply current through the kill switch's contacts.
