HID to halogen bulbs

Hey everyone. First time poster here. I bought a 2001 QX4 back in May and I gotta say I love this car. My problem is that my passenger side HID went out. As much as I want to replace it with another HID bulb I can't really afford it right now. I was curious if you can by-pass the ballasts and put regualar hallogen bulbs in and if its easy to do. I want to just do plug and play, not get into cutting wires and stuff cause I would like to use the HIDs again someday.

I don't think it's possible to just connect the ballast wiring harness into the headlight harness even if the physical shape is the same. Plus a halogen bulb will probably not look correct in a reflector housing.

Are you certain the bulb itself has died? You can try to swap the two bulbs to see if the problem follows.

If its just a bulb I can get you a pair for about the cost of a decent lunch for two, and if you need a ballast a used OEM is always a budget friendly alternative.

Thanks for the replys. Local parts place quoted me $103 for the bulb. What would be a good place on line to find them? Do I have to worry about them breaking in shipping?

I can get you a pair for $30 shipped, basically its the difference between oem and aftermarket expensive, and aftermarket cheap. I run these bulbs in my QX4 and have since 2007. Do however make sure it is the bulb thats the problem and not the ballast.
