I epically hate SUV/trucks with HIDS, They pretty much blind me if I use my side mirrors at all.

hey man if you are planning on doing HIDs, do yourself a favor and do a retrofit. Those plug n play kits honestly are not that great. I have had them on my 2000 civic and and rx7 and trust me, it worth converting for the real thing. Your light output is better and there is more useable light from a retrofit. Look around hidplanet.com and you'll be convinced.

if he had installed them on a truck or SUV, i would hope the customer would have heard right...they all deserve the hiv or the herp for their negligence of smaller car drivers needs

If you put in a HID setup you will not have HIGH beams any more in the pop up headlights. The pop-ups use dual filament bulbs (two separate wires for light, 1 for low beams, 1 for highs). However you could always find a small bi-xenon projector and do a retrofit. Then you make a wiring harness to control the high beam solenoid when you flick on the highs the shield in the projector moves to allow more light out.

Even without high beams, HIDs will be better than any halogen high beam you could run on factory wiring. That is if you get 4100-4300k (stock color temp) bulbs for your xenon setup.

I'd recommend masu****a ballasts and ignitors, they come potted(water proofed) from the factory in most cases or atleast parts of them do

not quite true. only if you grab the hid that only has the lo. they offer an hid bulb that has a hi and lo. lo would be hid bulb and the hi is regular bulb

I have a setup that works good and doesnt cost an arm and a leg. If you want to retain popups you'll need a houing conversion. I use the Hella kit and it works great. Decent cutoff and minimal glare.

http://www.frsport.com/FR-Hell....html

Frsport also offers a HID kit on their site. I myself bought one off of Krazyhouse Kustoms on Tristatetuners.com. The HID's are ok but the high beams suck.

Keeping highbeams depends on how much you wanna pay. A basic H4 will only have low beams. An H4 Hi/Lo will have high and low beams. The important thing to ask is if they're dual xenon bulbs. A non dual kit will have a normal halogen for high beams and HID's for the lows. Dual xenon has both xenon bulbs for high and low.

As far as bulb temp, anything over 6k actually has less usable light. A bright white HID is around 5000k temp. 6000k has a blueish tint but isnt excessive like 8000k. 10000k starts to get purple.

honestly, hit up hidplanet.com. The glare on the the plug and play kits is stupidly blinding. I used to have the plugs and play kit on my civic and i was running a 6k bulb and still wasn't satisfied with it. If you want just a low beam, use a honda s2000 projector. if you want a dual beam, use a acura tl projector.

He's right coz i'm running the hi and low kit and low really sucks. your better of just get regular h4 hid bulbs. As for the housing just you can get the frsport ones or just get some ebay specials just make fure if you get the ebay h4 conversions try not to get the projector ones coz the projectors glass will fall off after it gets heated from the hids

I got h4 conversion housings online and made my own kit using audi factory parts. sure I lost my high beam, but you get so much more light with the HID's, you won't miss it.

They actually have HID's where the bulb itself clicks upwards when you hit highbeam, or you can do this:

Low beam (sleepy)

High beam (popped up)

Better shot of the 'highbeam'

It does the job, my HID's in sleepy eye are like halogen in high beam, and then the HID's with lights popped up lights up the 6th floor to my building. I wanna perfect the lighting with some canadian fogs tho

6000K HID's will look blueish when you look at them form outside the car, but if you are driving with them they are very white. 2 of my friends have 6000 HIDs and they say they're are the best all around to go with.

My set up has low as a regular beam and hi as the HID. pretty cool considering I live in an area where if your car originally doesn't have HIDz u can get a ticket I'll try to get some pics up. HID iz 8k or 10k looks real nice.

I have pop ups and have an ebay h4 housing but not the hellas can I just get the bulbs and have the same effect or do I have to have the ballast as well? and are there any more pop ups with picks for motivation

U have to use the ballast's, they come with mounting brackets that you can bend to place them in nice spots. The regular halogen bulbs with the blue filming may be marked "HID" but that's just scheme. Here's how I mounted mine:

And here's another HID shot:

They are 8000K, so they're a little blue-ish. Sometimes they look white on camera, but they're blue-ish

Jesus Christ, do you people realize that we don't care what it looks like actually facing the lights rather than see how far they go or how horrible the cutoff is because you idiots don't use projectors?

we really dont need to see just a pic of your car with its lights on. we need to see how great it projects the area around it. im pretty sure all yall with hid's are blinding the crap out of people.

im having problems with my hids. i also bought the hella h4 kit for my s13 and have 8k hids. i got everything installed and went to test them, my headlights came up but no light. on the original headlight harness it has 3 prong inserts. i stuck my hid wire into the prong insert that is a green/red wire. is this the wrong one or do i have to modify something? which prong insert did you use to get your lights to work
