so my precious HID's finally crapped out. well one side. Not sure if its the ballast or bulb, ill check it out later. the good news is my *HIGH BEAMS* which are just normal halogens and arent pointed high....are my lights for now.

My kit cost $100 on ebay after paying extra shipping to get a replacement for my defective out-of-the-box ballast. I bought it in september and its been AWESOME. totally loved it.

I have a "1 year warranty" but i am not counting on hearing back from the seller...although he was pretty nice about the defective ballast before. Well see if he responds now. If not, yep...im buying another kit!!!! then ill have spare parts for when the other side craps out LOL

just want you guys to know...HID's are an EXCELLENT upgrade, but dont go over 6000k...my 6000ks were blinding enough to other drivers but not enough to get police attention. Im getting them again. Also....dont worry about what kit you buy....99% of them come from the same factory with different packaging/naming.

If you want to go HID......get the one with the halogen bulb built in next to the xenon..so that when it does go out (it will) you can have regular lighting until you repair.

Also....if you dont want to spend $$$ every 6 months - 1 year....dont go HID. Get OEM nissan/upgrade to the 01+ QX4 front end. Its $$$ but you get what you pay for.

just my 2 cents on my China Made - "german engineered" HID experience. I knew theyd crap out eventually especially with a defective ballast from the get-go. And I was ready to spend more to replace the kit after the difference they gave me!

Note that 6000K refers to the color temperature, not the brightness, so it won'thave an effect on "blinding other drivers". Seehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_temperature

thanks for correcting me. I get a lot of people telling me that my HID's arent as annoying as some they've seen with that piercing blue colour, i guess its the colour that is what annoys us and not the brightness. The damn sellers seem to give us that misconception that brightness is directly related to colour temperature, but theyll do anything to sell.

Some sellers even say that 6k and below is street legal....in ontario, technically ANY hid kit is illegal...the colour will just get you the police attention the higher the kelvin rating!

i think that the reason my ballast went so fast was due to me having the HID's on all the time. Plus I nearly maxed out my volume showing off my new subs to my buddies in windsor.....never did that before and it was that night i realized one died...i see alot of new kits with seperate relays and direct connections to the battery (which i dont understand if the amp is also connected to the battery)

I've had a set of the "cheap" HID's on my bike for over 3 years with no issues. And a motorcycle is a whole lot harder on bulbs than a regular car is. Bikes bounce around over stuff that you guys don't even notice.

My buddy who installed the kit on the land rover a few months ago, that inspired me, already sold that thing (right after he bought it) so i will not know how long they lasted.
