I got my tax return and bought some HIDs for the truck. Hopefully the weather this coming weekend will warm up and i'll get them installed. Will definately post pics after. They're 35w hi/lo's in 5000k. I'm excited.

Also, you retrofit-only people can save it, i'm a bastard and don't care

I'm excited, I haven't had HIDs since the 240 was in an accident, but it's 12 degrees and windy out, and i'm not moving the 240 out of the garage, lol. So, it's just gonna have to wait. I got a few little things for the truck if we get some nice weather. I'm ricing it out

I installed my lights, figured out trimming of the white ring was needed just to clear the larger hi/lo combination HID bulb, got everything in, now they won't work. It was 16 degrees when I was installing so i'll wait for tomorrow to mess with it again. I've installed around 14 HID kits, but never a high/low combo. Wiring still isn't difficult, I'm wondering if the relay is bad. Wish they had component testing parameters on their website (ddmtuning) without having to call them for it.

UPDATE: I messed with it more this afternoon, found some pins on the hi-low harness had backed out and the fuse sent with the kit was bad from the get-go (there was a chunk missing from it, plastic and metal both (not blown.) Replaced the fuse, pushed the pins back in and got the low beams to work, switch the pins and got high's only, switched again, and again, all I get is low's only or high's only. Pretty frustrated, i've never had a problem installing any HID kit, but again, this is my first hi/lo setup. Blah, looking into pin orders, have a email into ddmtuning. I'm almost 100% positive it's the hi/lo control module.

But, I have low beams set right now and boy do I love em, combined with my yellow fogs, visibility rocks! Will get pics soon!

Haven't heard back from ddmtuning yet, but I can still run the low's only, so here's some pics. I waited too long so it was too dark, but here's a few shots with and without fogs:

Still waiting to hear back from ddmtuning on the control module.

What is the cutoff on those like? If it sucks, and I go to visit my uncle in KC, and you freaking pull out behind me, I am going to be pissed.

I was surprised, I don't have pics of it, but it's got a decent cutoff. I've been driving around a lot, and haven't gotten flashed at all, whereas the 240 got flashed maybe every other day. Totally different headlight housings though.

So I got my new harness/ control module on thursday after sending the old one back to DDM, and I had the same problem. I spent 40 mins on the phone with DDM trying to hammer this out since I was sure it had to be either something really stupid, or a component failure we were missing. They had everyone in their tech dept. racking their brains, and even had the owner trying to help. After a while of testing everything, and talking out the circuits in our heads, haha, we came to find this.

The hi/lo kit bulb has a magnet in the base, when it receives the signal to switch to high beams from the headlight switch, power comes through the relay and is supplied to the soil, creating a magnetic field, pulling the bulb physically back, which changes the light 'height' output since the filament is bouncing off a different part of the reflector. ANYWAYS, so the magnet get it's power straight from the battery, the signal comes through the harness (to my knowledge)... however... the HID bulb filament draws it's power from the low beam circuit in the factory harness. Now on most cars, in a halogen bulb... when the high beam is switched on, the low beam filament REMAINS on and high beam filament fires up as well, so BOTH filaments remain lit when the high beams are switched on. In my case, which is only the 2nd time they've encountered this... the low beam circuit is turned off when the high beams come on. So the high beam filament is lit... but the low beam filament goes out. So the HID filament goes out anytime the high's are switched on.

So the conclusion at this point is that either my headlight switch is bad or that's how my setup works from the factory and the kit isn't compatible with my truck. Now there's loads of '06s+ that are running a hi/lo HID setup so i'm inclined to believe the problem may be on my end. Further testing is required. Just wanted to give an update in case anyone else runs into this issue.

The guys at DDM are very nice, and I was talking to Brian in the tech dept, last time I talked to Troy. Brian was extremely nice and very eager to help figure this out! I was very impressed with their eagerness to help hammer it out!
