Alright so i am interested in getting rid of the god awful stock halogen and doing an HID Retrofit but the price is holding me back. To have them professionally installed costs +$700 and this does not include the cost of the kit from TRS. I guess i am looking for some motivation to tackle this project myself or warning to not. Those that have attempted a complete retrofit (meaning you removed the lens from the light assembly) could you offer up some advice, things you learned etc. Is this something i can attempt myself and get the same result if i paid to have it done. Any moisture problems?

I am planning on getting either of the 2 below. The minis are easiest to install and look like a smart pick but the FX-R supposedly are superior in terms of light quality

Bi-Xenon FX-R Stage III Kit:

Bi-Xenon Mini D2S Stage III Kit:

I guess my biggest obstacle is finding a way to heat up the housing in order to remove the lens. Not really trying to stick it in the same oven i cook with.

I haven't done this yet but plan to someday. I also haven't done my research yet to know what I want to do.
Check out YouTube they have tons of vids on this subject.
It can be done by anyone
I was looking to have mine professionally done but refuse to pay $1500-2k on headlights.

Exactly.

Yea been in contact with TRS and they sent me some links on the install process. Been watching some vids, the minis are definitely the easiest to do.

This summer I'm gonna try to source some headlights for cheap at a junk yard so I can take my time with it. I need to visit that site and check it out.

Ha. Just realized you were from PA too

To save money and headaches...you're better off just being a raw HID kit that contains ballasts, wiring and xenon bulbs. And to just install the HID kit into your OEM reflector headlamp. The majority of aftermarket HID kits xenon bulb will fit perfectly into your halogen bulb socket/seat. Just get a shielded D2R bulb for your OEM reflector headlamp. Don't waste your money on a retro kit thinking performance, looks, and light output will be better. :gapteeth:
