Had one of the OEM low beams go out on our Q (frat'n drat'n life of the car my a**) Anyway, the local dealer happily told me they could order the BULB for me for only $250. I said thanks and went online. My question is, the OEM bulb part number (the one I pulled) is for a D2R. However, ever single site that I look it up on has it as a D2S. From what I can tell, the only difference is the design of the reflector. While I plan to go with the OEM part number (think I will go up to 5000K) Does anyone have any idea why every supplier seems to disagree with Infiniti in this case. Checked Philips, Osram, HIDworld, etc etc.

(And yes, I followed the FSMs advice and switched the bulbs to verify that it is the source of the problem. First time I have ever had to take apart half the front of a car to change the headlight. Or at least that was how it felt in my cold a** garage)

Headlight units are really pretty easy to access. Clean and polish them while you have them out. Seriously consider armoring them! They are about $900 each from Joe. Virtually unavailable on the used market, even as half opaque used units.

If you replace one bulb, your light will be uneven. Check the bulbs you have now, and your question about the FSM and OM will be answered. Seems like Nissan always put at least one gotcha in evey FSM.

LOL. Easy is a relative term I guess. The best way I could see was taking out the air filter box and battery. My hand is large enough that I would have had to take it out the air box anyway to get to a couple of the bolts holding the light housing. Probably would not have cared during the summer, but with an unheated garage, it seemed like it took a while.

I could not find a part number in the FSM anywhere. Looked at the bulbs and online. Obviously going to go with what I have in hand, but thought it was interesting that the web was universally wrong. Even the OEM supplier.

It's been a while for me. I know I never removed the battery, or my memory is shot. Seems like the whole units came out fairly easily once the trim covers were off.

Ok, I lied. Now that I know the part number I can search the FSM on it and find it.*shrugs*

Trim covers? Unless I am completely confused, the whole unit is bolts in directly. Two easily removed and then a few that have to be removed from behind.

Yeah...FSM bt-41

Didn't look at that first, but didn't think I was crazy either.

Trim covers are what I call the plastic covers over the top and radiator that come off to provide access to the headlight units.

ahhh...I was thinking of the old days when halogens were held in place by trim rings.
