Too much light man especially if you aren't using any projectors, light scatter too much in a factory housing.
I have HID in my scion Xb but im using Projectors, i was going to put HID in the housing of the QX4 but change my mind because the light scatters too much, that's why i wont do it my self unless i use projectors.
So what i did was buy a set of CrystalVision Ultra and dump the old halogen bulbs

and once in a while i get flashed as if i have my high beams on.

Yeah, don't do it. Without proper housings, the HIDs reflect glare like crazy and actually provide less usable light at a distance. Additional reading here.

I use 55 watt ballasts, but like the other two have mentioned, get projectors first.
About 9 months now and no heat issues.

If you're asking "Do they make projectors that will work in our Pathfinders?" - then yes, they do. (Look at the signature of the poster above your last post).

However, more than likely, you are asking "Do they make headlight housings with projectors already installed in them for our Pathfinders?" - then no, they don't. It's a custom job - do it yourself or ship them out to be done professionally.

Depends where you go and what customizations you request.
Ganesh21 and I went to BlackFlameCustoms in NY.
If you DIY, you will pay less than $275 for parts (if you sacrifice your OEM housings) +75 if you buy donor housings. The cost goes up when you select more premium parts. Depending on where and who you consult, labor charges vary.

Consult HIDPlanet for vendors/retrofit services that may be local to you.
Hope I helped. Feel free to ask anything else.

Just to give you an idea, when i ask how much was to do my headlights in the Scion XB they quote me for $475.
So i started to do some re-search on Retrofitting your headlights with projectors and came across the Morimoto projectors, so i order the ones that just fit into the H4 socket and paid $126 dollars for the pair.

Then pay $76 dollars for a descent set of HID not those cheap one from eBay and did all the work my self, no drilling no cutting just bake open the headlight and install the projector.
A total of $202 dollars saving me $273 dollars.

What he has would actually look great on your car because he had his housings painted black.

ganesh21 has these:

I'm possibly selling my pathfinder by summer too, so mine will also be up for sale.

Can we see pictures of their current condition? - As well as the setup under the hood?

EDIT: If you still have the car that is, or had taken pictures at one point in the past...

I am strongly considering...

I'd like to send you a PM but you do not have them enabled.

Would you mind discussing this via email or PM?

hey how do your crystalvisions look? I got a pair of H3 ones for my fogs and they seem yellow to me.. They are no where near my hids for my 02 qx4. I'm pretty sure my hids are 4300k and these crystalvisions are supposed to be around 4000k but I was kinda disappointed int he color.

The headlight are expensive but worth it. The output is just great.

I pick up a 09 Honda pilot and I already a new set of headlight for the vehicle. I don't think i can go back to regular light. I commute an hour each way to work - 6 days a week so it does help.

retrofit source told me to go with the ez retro kit that uses the h1 bulb an is a complete bolt on kit said i didnt have to epoxy it in just screw it in from the backside. An that its is so simple to install there is no sence in having someone to do it for me. They also said to go with blaser one for the foglights which he said would be pretty hard but if i take my time i should be able to perform it myself i explained to him how hard it was to separate are foglight housing he recommened just drilling out the back of the foglights if i could not separate it. My problem with the blazer is that it uses a 880 bulb an retrosolutions does not sell 55watt 880 bulbs but they sell the 35watt one. I am thinking i could do the ez retro fit for the fogs as well since are foglights are so large what do ya think?

I'm Honored! :D If you need any help with anything, I'd be glad to help.

Well, it's a possibility. I love the car too but I snowboard a lot! Over this winter, with the lack of snow in NY I had to drive as far as Vermont to board. ~16-18mpg resulted in me spending almost 1k in gas this winter. I expect the cost to go down now that the season is over. I really want a TL/G35/Maxima :yesnod . If I don't find a good deal on any of those, I'll be sticking with Perciphone here (yea, I named her). At which point, the mods will come in droves (wheels, paint, exhaust etc)
Innovazn wrote: did you black out your housing? or left it chrome?
No, mine was left chrome to retain an OEM+ look. If my car was black, which I wish it was, then I would have blacked them out.

thats what i been thinking bout to leave my reflector chrome or not. My headlights an parking lights are already accented with gloss black trim since they r aftermarket jdm ones. i was just thinking maybe painting the projecter shroud gloss black.
