I have HIDs that came with the car. I've owned it for over two years without any problems and I'm sure the lights were on there for a while before I bought it.

I turned my car on tonight and turned on my headlights. The left one was noticeably dim and looked yellowed instead of the normal pure white. I thought that was weird but expected it to warm up. I was wrong, the bulb completely shut off. I assumed the bulb was dead. I turned my lights off, waited a little bit, turned them back on. The bulb turned on much to my surprise, but it was dim, flickered a few times, then shut off.

Before I spend a lot of money buying replacement bulbs, is this typical behavior of a bulb dying or should I be concerned with something else? I'm assuming I just need to buy new bulbs since these are so old now but I don't want to fix something that isn't broken and be out that money.

Thanks.

i wouldn't say its the bulb sounds more like it would be the ballast getting ready to die on you.

Crap. Not what I wanted to hear. Sounds like I might have to get a whole new kit then? I'll trace wiring and make sure nothing's loose tomorrow but I don't have a lot of faith.

They work.

I just got done testing it like I should have in the first place. I wanted to save myself some work if I could. It was the bulb for anyone curious. Ordering new bulbs and I'll be good.

WHy don't you just use regular bulbs? since zenki headlights are reflector based...not projector based which take HID bulbs.

HIDs look so much better (especially with glass headlights) and provide so much more visibility. I understand all the details of why they're bad including glare but I have them pointed pretty far down, especially on the driver side, and my car's low. I've never been flashed.
