So in my 2005 Q I have had to replace 2 ballast, and 2.5 sets of bulbs. First set PIAA 6200k Japan. They were $200 because of shipping from Tokyo.
Then Osram CBI 6000k. Ballasts from OEM.

Am I picking or doing something wrong?
Do all HID D2S have the same voltage and such?

I've also had issues with fog lights. I had JDM LED in the fogs, worked great for 6 months, then blew fuses back to back..
At any rate, what brand do you all suggest?

I've had less than stellar success with aftermarket LED bulbs... Especially in a constant on situation. For HID I don't have a ton of experience, but my factory ones made it for at least 7-8 years on our G35. There are a lot of reports of counterfeit replacement bulbs on eBay and Amazon.

I was at the garage I use for the Q and had the transmission flushed, coolant replaced, rotate and balance the tires, and changed the NGK double platinums for new ones, replaced my mass air sensor (Hitachi) and all 4 O2 sensors.. I'm wanting to get the Q set up for no problems for 3-5 years. Which is why this light bulb fiasco I've dealt with now 3 times in the last 12 months, Morimoto, Kensun, Phillips.. and even a set of PIAA bulbs I had sent from Tokyo. I though I'll check with Nissan on the bulbs.. who is it we use? Infinitparts.......?

I think guys on the M subforum claim good experience with Osram bulbs.

I think it's more luck than anything. Whenever I am in my car my headlights are on, day or night. I put a cheap pair of $20 eBay pink D2R bulbs in my 99' and have been running them for probably seven or eight years now. When I first got them one of them burnt out in about an hour of use and they swapped it out. Since then no problems.
