I have a 1995 Nissan Maxima and I am having the worst problem with the Xenon Bulbs burning out my sockets. I have went through 3 sets of Nokya 9004 Bulbs and 3 sets of heavy duty harnesses. I bought a new set of Heavy Duty Harnesses and put in the Halogens (I hate the stock yellow look as you can tell). Now I am deciding to get the SilverStars for my car and I was wanting to know if they burn at hot as the Nokya bulbs. If they do I think I have a solution, but I am not sure how logical it is. I was thinking about drilling a few holes in the back of the Headlight Lamp Housing to let the hot air out. I am thinking that if I did that then when it rains the water would seep in. Some of you guys may think that it would a problem when I wash my engine, but that is no problem, because I have never done that since I bought the car and I do not plan it since my car as 164,000 miles and the engine bay is still pretty clean. However, it might be a problem when I wash my car (I doubt I will be washing it soon, due to the water restrictions here in Georgia). If any of you guys have any feedback on this idea please let me know before i take this step.

Thanks, Keyur Patel

Those are all actually just regular halogens, not the Xenon HID's. If they are higher wattage bulbs though, they will cause the issues you're seeing. I don't know about the Nokya's but if you're also having issues with the SilverStar bulbs then there's definitely something else wrong as those are standard wattage.

Make sure the connectors aren't corroded and you may also check out the headlight relays. Just swap the relay with another and see if there are still issues. You may also make sure your battery connections are good, just in case, though I don't believe that would be the problem.

Hopefully that helps.

Yeah I will check the connections and the relays. I know for a fact there is no corrosion in the sockets, because my father made me check that out first before I installed the Nokya's. I have never used the SilverStars before this is going to be my first time. I was just wanting to make sure that they do not burn my sockets out and I waste around 40 bucks on headlights.

Since you said that SilverStars work are standard wattage I will try them out and I will THROUGHLY check all my connections and make sure that my relays are still in good shape. Thanks for the help and I will update you on how everything works out a few days after the installation.
