HID ouput height question?

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I have installed HID, but I noticed the light output height from each lenses on the wall are not same. Right side is lower than left side. I heard it should be like this in the picture. Right side is higher than left side. I am not sure if this is true for ex35. If you have the ex35 model that came with HID, please post your picture. Thank you.

first of all, there is supposed to be a slop as ramprun said, however that person's light are not done correctly, there is ONLY one line that goes

............. __________..........................(dotted line because the solid one kept autocorrecting_______/

in wuitsung's pic, the lights are two far apart, which means he may be blinding some folk. usually to adjust this, there are two holes at the top of each headlight housing, where you can stick a phillips in and it has a screw that moves the angle of the projectors. u play around with it until they overlap properly. ~

From my understanding, the z pattern on the real HID housing comes from the parts located in front of the hid bulb called "SHIELD" That shield is basically the same shape of the beam you posted that created the Z pattern. Basically, the left is lower than the right to avoid direct illumination of oncoming traffic. Both left and right headlights have this shield, and when aligned, tech normally adjust the beam to overlap. (basically 2 z pattern that merged or overlap into one.

Your stock housing doesn`t have that perfect Z shape "Shield" that gives a distinct HID pattern. But you still see a z pattern but not like the one you posted above . Also, the beam or angle of beam is not as wide as the real HID projector housing. The only way to get the real Z pattern is to have it send the projector housing for HID retrofit conversation.

BTW, if you look at the picture above, you can see 2 z pattern overlapping...

Here is the actual pic of the shield that produces the z pattern.

Below is my ex35 non HID projector w/ hid kit .

Thanx! I found a section from ex35 service manual provided by dividedhighwhttp://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/EX/2008/EXL.pdf

I am not sure where to find the adjustment of the HID system, can anyone help me?

I asked the technician from my dealer, he told me he didn't touch any thing except installing HID for me. Does that mean the model came with halogen is different than the one came with HID? (I am talking about the output angel).I am sure the housing and lenses are the same as the the one came with HID model, because I confirmed with part department.

I think I found it, it's in "HEADLAMP AIMING ADJUSTMENT".

But I don't want to do it myself, I will bring it to my dealer.

you don't need to change the housing. You just need to buy HID kit (HID bulb + ballas). You can ask your dealer, they might have it. I spent around $250, my is from Mtech.
