I love the HID lights that where installed on 2002-2003. I have a 2000 se and I want that look. How hard would it be to integrate the hid lamps on my 2000. Am I better off going with aftermarket kit?

Quality, replaceability, and beam pattern will be much better with the OEM (2002-2003) headlights.

And yes, they should bolt right in. You'll have to do some modification with the wiring harness at the end but it shouldn't be anything too difficult.

^^^ What John said.

A lot of people don't like the light pattern of the 5.5-gen HID's. I tend to like them better for some reason.

I like that blue look and I don't want it to be blue just because I put bulbs in. I want the housing aswell. Thanks again if anyone can get me a diagram for the wiring mods I would be grateful.

Good luck with obtaining a diagram. Most Max owners are paranoid about people stealing their headlights and refuse to tell others how to retrofit them.

(Dumb logic, IMO, because these thieves, for the most part, are stealing the headlights for the bulbs and ballasts and usually trash the housing)

That said, getting a hold of a service manual should do the trick. But also, figure that everything electronic has basically a power and ground, and you can see it shouldn't be too hard to hook everything up.

Is it possible to install the bulb and ballast only in current housing?

With hacking, and lots of effort, sure. Going to be difficult getting the bulbs in properly and the spread may not be the best. IMO, it is best to used the 2k2+ headlights instead of trying to get the HID's to work with yours.

Trying to shove a D2R based bulb that puts out nearly 3x as much light in a halogen housing designed for a dual filament bulb is not only disaster, it's irresponsible (to everyone else on the road that has to put up with it).

Get the OEM headlights from 2k2-2k3. They have a real, legal, and acceptable beam pattern.

When you integrate the 2k2+ lights to a 2000 or 2001, there may be a slight gap from the main bumper and the headlights. I've seen some pics of this but its minimal but more than the normal gap on a 2k2. The 2k2 and 2000 bumpers are not interchangable.

Does anyone know what temp the HID ballast is for the 2K5+ Max? I really like the way it looks and I want to incorporate it (or similar) on my S15 lights.

You mean what Kelvin level? The 2k2's HID's were 4100 and I don't think that was changed. Not 100% sure tho.

Well, the 2K2 max's look kinda bluish-white, whereas the newer ones looks like it has a purpleish tint. The light output could also have something to do with the fact that the newer maximas have projectors that change the beam pattern.

Yeah, the newer ones change from white-blue to a purpleish dependant on the angle you are looking at them. From dead-on, the light output seems pretty similar to the HID's in my 2k2.

Thanks. I want to get a Bellof lighting kit for my HID conversion vs. paying out the a** for the HID S15 headlights.

Yeah, if you can get a true HID conversion kit, you will be better off.
