Hi Everyone,

I've done tons of research and I agree with the fact that a proper OE HID housing should be used to prevent glare. Here's what I'm going to do:

1. Purchase (New or Used if I can find them) OE HID housings.
2. Purchasing separate components from http://www.theretrofitsource.com for $250 (My Quote/ D2R Bulbs aren't shown on website, but TRS stocks them for lazy people like me :-) CONTACT THEM FOR THIS SETUP.)

a.) New Phillips D2R bulbs
b.) A pair of Matsushita Gen IV Ballasts (Nissan Spec'd)
c.) An H11 Low Beam Relay Wire Harness.

This setup is going to allow me to use the stock ballast mount points, the H11 Halogen harness will allow for a plug-n-play setup from the stock non-HID harness to the ballasts and the Ignitor Cables used with the Matsushita Gen IV's are for D2R bulbs. Now.. time to find those elusive OE housings.. :-D

Now that you mention it...

Leo did you ever add a relay to your set up?

BTW: the minis are going to be installed on my civic soon. You guys might want to check out TRS.

How much are they charging you just for the bulbs?

Not sure as I was quoted $250 for the whole setup. But Matt did tell me that he'd knock $45 off the price for some slightly used D2R bulbs. To me, though, it's worth the extra $45 for new bulbs.

Well i got the used bulbs first since i can always order new ones if anything. I got the bulbs, one ballast and the last housing coming this week.

I should be done with my install soon. Just got to splice and solder the cables and test everything with my bench power supply before i place them in the rogue.

It should be fun....might do a step by step of the cutting and testing.

I am retrofitting my civic light with minis and might just do it on the rogue depending if i dont like the output on the OEM reflectors.

So let me get this correct .

By doing the same set up as PRROGUE i wont need to cut any wires >/

is that what the relay is for

to go from the h11 to the ballast ?

Well if you go his route it might be a bit more expensive. Most of the housing you buy out there bring the ballast attched to the housing.

I am going Leo's route because that its what i got when i bought the headlights and i had to choose....buy the harness or buy from the Leo's links and cut/splice the cables. (easy as hell to do)

When you buy from TRS the ballast bring the correct pig tails already h11 adpter ...The wire harness just brings a relay attached to it (i believe). I dont know if Leo used a relay on his set up but i really dont see a use for it unless you are scared something might happen.

I bought from TRS a ballast and bulbs because i was missing one for one of my housings and it brought the pigtail , this is why i know that if you buy from TRS you will be ok. Like i said , it will be more money spent. TRS is an awesome place to get stuff from but if dont need it why spend it.

This is what i spent:

1st housing with bulb and ballast = 130.00
2nd housing no ballast or bulb = 105.00
TRS ballast+ 2 sets of bulbs = 90.00
cut and splice connectors/harness = 35.00

Total 360.00

PRrogue way (nice comfy set up)

bulbs, ballast and harness = 250.00
Housings ? 105.00 to 500 per side

Your choice bud....Its really up to you (not bad either way)

I got them @EBAY,,,,Just waited and got great deal. Too bad one tab broke during shipment. It really pissed me off but I will finish repairing it tonight. I am using the same method used by profesionals.

It will not look preaty but it will hold alot stronger than before. I already placed the bulb and ballast on both headlights. I will be cutting and splicing the cables tonight and hopefully do the change tomoroow morning on the rogue.

It should be fun to see the before and after.

Well Tab got repaired and the lights installed.

Since i had the bumper off i went ahead and took off the plastic homedepot mod. I replaced the plastic with the silver wire mesh. This process was a pain in the butt but its woth it.

I just need to aim the lights but i was tired and super busy doing other stuff. She does not drive at night but we did drive it arround and its kinda ok. Drivers needs to be raised the passanger side was fine.

What a differerance HID makes. I was amazed at the cut off these housing reflectors have...WOW

Thank you bud...You need to strat including pics with your updates lol

I see myself following your fogs install since i found out that the 2010 rogue S does not have the pre-wire. I think its better that it doesnt have the prewire since it would be alot cheaper to do it without the oem parts.

Well I ordered H11 premium digital 3000k kit from V-LEDS and instead of cutting their kit I did cut the wires that were made for fog lights to use original socket from the kit. Basically it's a same idea like in here with headlights except I soldered new wires to the H11 socket that was pre-wired. If I ever have to replace the hid kit with different kit or if I decide to get regular halogen bulbs then I don't have to cut any wires again but it will plug-n-play kit.

Good news for those like me who replaced or about to replace Halogen Headlights with Xenon Headlights. I talked to V-leds over the phone and they said they can mix and kits with any bulbs so in this case you will not need an adapter anymore. In this case you can buy a ballast with wires from H11 kit but the bulb will be D2R and you will never have to worry about the adapter. Here's the question then: How's the output from aftermarket hid kit will be in factory xenon headlight? If I decide to replace my setup with aftermarket hid I'll definitely think about premium kit which goes around $150 but I'll stay with my current setup for now.
