Hello,

I am Joeychan, and I am new to the Versa Forums. I am interested in HIDs and I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a good one.

Are HIDs just a different type of bulb or do I have to install a whole "kit"? How much dose something like this usually cost? I don't know anything about HIDs so any information you have to offer on the subject would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forums joeychan!

HIDs are not just a type of bulb but require installation of an entire "kit". I have seen some on ebay for around $60 but I know nothing about how complete or well made these are. I know several members of this forum have played with HIDs and I am sure they will chime in with recommendations for you.

If you just want some brighter headlights there are some aftermarket options for standard headlight bulbs that are brighter than the stock ones. These cost $20-50 a pair.

HID kits usually consist of the HID bulbs, 2 ballasts, and mounting hardware. Most HID kits these days are pretty much plug and play. The hardest part of the installation is usually deciding where to mount the ballasts. You could either screw down the brackets, or use ties to hold them up someplace in the engine bay.

if you've got an intake kit there's a nice place for the left hand side ballast box where some of the standard airbox equipment went to mount the left ballast box

here's where i've mounted my ballasts (the small shiny chrome boxes)
