duno where the write up is but I would start with an H4 conversion kit first to get rid of the sealed beam bulbs. These can be sourced at any major auto parts store, ebay, or your local tuner garage's. Once you have the kit youll have to decide on bulb size, but thats not a problem since your H4 housings will of course only take an H4 bulb. Next youll want to decide on the light intensity you want your HID's to look. Almost all manufacturers use the typical 8000, 10000, 12000 etc to differentiate how white, blue or purplish the light output will be. Some manufacturers use this method to refer to the kelvin scale in regards to how hot the bulbs burn but I also belive brands like PIAA only use them to differentiate color. Basically the higher the # the closer the bulbs output will resemble actual sunlight.

oh and oldschool kits come with ignitors the newer generation HID kits shouldnt need them

How hard and how costly is the conversion? What's the desired effect; brighter lights or cooler looking?

Here's some good info on s13 headlights upgrade. True HID kit will blind other people since they don't have height/angle adjustment.

Actually the higher the kelvin number the less bright the head lights will be. If you want bright HIDs then you need to get around 5000-6000k. The higher the number the more blue they get then they start going purple but just because the number is higher doesn't mean it's brighter. The brightest is between yellow and white. Good luck...oh yeah, here is a link for some good H4 conversion headlights: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...QrdZ1

As far as I know, Raybrig is the brand you can trust. Good stuff.Looks like a pair of Raybrig H4 bulbs go for $65 on eBay.

Those arent true HID's they just give an HID look. HID kits can range anywhere from $150- 400$ in my area. Here are a few examples

Also I just remembered most kits will only have single beam so you pretty much will only have low beam unless you buy a kit that allows you to use high and low. (will reflect on price for this option)

No...I know these are not HID bulbs. They change your sealed beams over to H4 style bulbs so you can use an H4 style HID set up. You have to change over to this style head lamp before you can install HIDs...capish?

reason i mention this is because i've heard of warning lights showing up whenever someone throws in drop-in HIDs.
