Even unfocused with all the glare?heywier427 wrote: ...looks really cool at night!

I think to do it properly, one has to get the clear lights w/o the lenses - right? Is that a JDM item, or can it be sourced in the U.S.?
here goes what the 5 series look like.. And i love the way they look. I just dont know how bright they are.. If they are bright as hell.. I want them. So next quesrt would be, how hard is it to hook them to the 95Q? Because if it comes out cheaper and easier than the onees im trying to get from Japan.. then ill take these 5 series. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...19711Rex wrote:Here's what I found, seems to be too much work for the look/bebenfit in most members minds.
I still think the 5 series BMW "Angel Eyes" look best, not sure on how they perform.
Romeo, I have studied the angel eye's for a while. i have talked to Q45caliber and he advised a pro do it. I have my own shop. Things to consider:fabricating brackets for housingfenders need to be cut/roundedwiring need to be changedangel eye is not as tall, need rubber moulding on top of bumper to take up spaceRomeo5k wrote:yeah.. do both and tell me where u got ur HID from too.. and how much?

It's not the brightness - it's the beam pattern. If you get them from a right-hand-drive country, the pattern that normally lights the side of the road will instead beam at oncoming drivers.Romeo5k wrote: But.. the reason i say blind is because thats the way everyone on here is describing them. I would actually just say Bright lights, but MAXNIX would say they blind oncoming traffic.
What lights are you talking about?More info please!Romeo5k wrote:well.. looks like ill be going to japan then for 700$. At least i know they are perfect fit.
u dont think it could be tweaked by a good body shop ???superuber wrote:
i didn't really have a good picture of his angel eyes until now. the other pics were off nico threads. after seeing this daytime pic, don't take this wrong q45Caliber, these are horrible! look at the fit. they really don't line up. they look like someone just placed them in there. they don't even really look attached! my Q is just to nice to do a half job like these would give me.I honestly think its not even worth looking into any more. I love the angel eye's but I want a oe look not a "looks like my teenager did this" job.I am considering the lights Kimrober got. Are these easy to come by?As far as blinding people, I really don't drive at night. think the clear looks good, do they make clear side markers? Sorry if I have offended anyone, It is only my opinion!
pito, the ones u saw was it a perfect fit ?? there is only 1 company on ebay that sats there lights are designed for HID and sells w/ retrofit if u want all others not designed for hid. the HID i have in my stock lense now are from a 745 (hellas) the refracted stock lense takes away from the beam.pito11213 wrote:Here in nyc I have seen a couple of 94+ q's with the 5 series headlights.
1. Do not go with the ebay knock offs. The angel eyes are not as bright, the projectors are crap and they will almost certainly fog up on the inside.
2. It is easier to get them done right on a 94 than a 93. The 90-93 q is dated and when you put the lights on there it doesn't look too good. Without the grill it looks no frills.
3. I had a plug and play hid kit on my legend and loved it. It was designed for the correct bulb fitment which reduced (not eliminated) glare. In retrospect I would have gone with 6000k and the 8000k did look nice bit light output did suffer. It was bright right in front of the car but on dark roads it didn't give you much in distance.
This is the part where you head to the BMW dealer and trade in the Q.jamesmost wrote:u dont think it could be tweaked by a good body shop ???
i did a custom install of the bulbs i epoxied the origional hole of the pamp shut w/ a piece of kydex (high impact plastic) w/ a dremmel and cross cut drill bit cut a proper size hole for the hid bulb then epoxy in place, bty light is far better then stock.pito11213 wrote:See that's the first problem. Do not take hid bulbs out of another car's factory system.
If I remember the q had a 9005 low beam(correct me if I'm wrong) you need the kit that is bulb size specific. When you are installing the bulb you can fiddle with it a little to get the beam you want. You can also adjust the headlight level to help with glare.
The 94+ q with the bmw lights look beautiful when installed correctly. It looks like a factory option. I recommend it also because of the projectors you get. You will really appreciate the hids then. Also the cutoff is sharpe and beautiful.
