Hey guys,

I've decided to start modding on my 2011 Altima Coupe CVT with the end of the school semester winding down. My Coupe is basic and I want to start with HIDs. I've searched the forum for HID help and keep getting confused as to what I need. I am using DDM Tuning. Just a couple questions:

1. Does it matter whether I use a 35 or 55 wattage?
2. Is H11 the correct bulb?

It does not matter 35 or 55 technically but most running hids have 35 watt including myself. I've heard never seen of 55 watt melting part of the housing and in my opinion 55 is just kinda over kill 35 does the job great. Yes h11 is the right size somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

Have you decided on color? I just switch from 6k to 4300 and would recommend that for more usable light but just my 2 cents.

I have debating between the 6000k and 8000k. My Coupe is black and I'm digging both the blue and pure white. I may just go with the pure white and keep it simple.

Here we go again...HIDs in regular halogen projectors. Lets start off with the basics here guys. HID burns at a higher temperature. The projectors used in the OEM headlights are made for halogens bulbs which burn at a lower temperature. What do you think happens when you put a higher output temperature bulb into a sealed projector that was made to handle lower temperature... can you guess? It's not rocket science here people. What happens is the coating inside the projector burn and begin to peel / flake off and thus, over time, light output diminishes.

As for your debate on what bulb temp to use, it's bad enough you're going to do the above, but you'll add insult to injury by putting in a lower lumen output bulb. What I mean is, just because it says 6K or 8K doesn't mean that the light output (lumen) is greater. 5K is the optimal temperature range but if you're looking for a little blue tinge to the output, then go 6K...no higher. If you're looking for that cool rainbow "flicker" effect, the type you see on the higher end cars when they're driving towards you, then do it right and upgrade the projectors in the headlights. Dangeris Lumenations can do all of those things mentioned! :chuckle: Yeah I know..shameless plug :tisk:

You can get a 3k hid set for yellow fogs, but the yellows might not match and be uneven. I would either buy fogs with yellow lenses, or wrap your lenses with yellow film
