To get HID on the '05 Maxima you needed the Driver Preferred Package which includes: heated steering wheel, driver's seat lumbar and memory, power tilt/telescope steering wheel with memory, auto-dimming folding mirrors with memory, and a mechanism that moves your seat and steering wheel out of the way when you open the door. This package also adds HID lights and a rear spoiler to the 3.5SE

So, since you have 18" rims I assume you have a SE. If your car does not have the above then you don't have HID lights.

Assuming your car did come from the factory, you just find replacement bulbs. If it didn't getting HID takes a conversion, most of which, from what I understand, are technically not legal (may not be able to pass inspection). It's more than just swapping bulb types. HID systems require electronic ballasts and other things non-HID cars don't have.

HID replacement lamps (bulbs) are a lot more expensive than standard headlamps.

I'm not sure what the best source for replacement OEM HID lamps is. Maybe one of our members who has them on their car can help out there.

I dont have the preffered pkg. Do you think this means all the stuff is in my car now, I just need the HID bulbs ? Or will I need a conversion kit with ballast and all that stuff ?

You will need a conversion kit with the ballasts.
