Whatever you get, you should order either 4300k or 6000k bulbs. Anything else is a waste of money if you ask me. Stock bulbs are 55 watts, so don't go over that. Most aftermarket HID kits are 35 watts.

I wouldn't go much more than 6000k. The higher the number the less light they give off to a point.. like jakw said 4300k to 6000k is within the brightest temp range for HID's. 4300k being the whitest and brightest.

I also would stay away from the cheaper ones. I got ones from work made by metra.. they were SUPPOSED to be good and I've swapped 2 kits in already and still have problems with them firing every once in a while. and I eliminated the headlight circuit and ran my own power and relays because I know of the headlight relay problem the J's have.

I've heard alright things about the cheaper Ebay kits for the most part. I bought mine for something like $98 shipped. The ballasts wouldn't start in cold weather (CO has that once in a while), so I just put the regular bulbs back in. I eventually got replacement ballasts, which work great. They still had me pay for shipping, which was $28. So $126 was the total for me, and they start all the time. I think the coldest it's been was 4 or 5 degrees F.

Before you go buying, do a little research about lumens vs. color temp (k). You'll find that 3200k puts out the most lumens, but it a super bright yellow. 4300k is what most cars use (BMW, Lexus, etc...). Less lumens, but completely white light. I can't remember if any manufacturers use 6000k from the factory, but basically as you go up the scale, you get more color and less light.

Typical halogen bulbs (what you have now) will put out roughly 1100 lumens. 4300k HIDs will be in the neighborhood of 3200 I believe.

I'd say, get them with a digital balast. A friend of mine works for a Honda dealer and they carry HID kits. They're a little more expensive, but well worth it, and have a really good warranty also. I think they run a little over $200 for a kit, but I've never heard any complaints about them.http://www.lskoncepts.com/stor...0.phpThe price is really high from that site, but it gives you an idea what they are I guess. I can find out if he's still selling them ( I want a set for my J when I get my tax return in ) And I can let you know if you're interested.

I don't know much about DRLs. Does the same amount of power go through them, or is it less when they aren't turned 'on'? I would probably just disconnect them to avoid problems, unless they just keep your headlights on like normal and you don't mind it.

As for the wheels, I'm not a huge fan of chrome. Those aren't bad, just not really my style. It might actually be better, since sporty wheels might look kind of out of place on a J. I don't really like the way the spokes flare out at the lip, but that's just me. Oh, and they're kinda heavy, but whatevs.

Yeah, for sure. Get the wheels you like. It's not even the chrome I mind so much, I'm just not a huge fan of the overall look, I guess. I usually don't give people too much **** about wheels, just because personal taste varies so much.

And yeah, plently of cars are coming with HID DRLs these days. It won't hurt anything to drive with them on.
