HID Gen1 upgrade

Has anyone done a HID upgrade on a G50 Q45?

I saw a person do one on a Y33 Q41 once.

Yes, but the car was sold.

FY33 from 1999 had HID low beams standard.

Green... You can do quasi-HIDs, just get one of those kits off ebay, they shouldnt draw too much current i dont think..... I think the low beams use 9003 in the 94..... I always get them confused...

That would bea good way to do it.. There have been members that have done it, its doable.

my g50 has a conversion that i installed myselfhella's out of a wrecked 740il wires up no problemglued Kydex (high impact plastic cut w/dremmel ) into bulb hole .2part epoxy then cross cut holes the size of HID bulb in it then glued in bulbs no problem in 5 yearsdisplay reads headlight inoperative until u reset bu putting on high beamsif this response seems retarded just call me Corky

Question: I know nothing about headlight systems, so what is the deal with the bulbs you can find on eBay that claim to just be a straight swap? For like $20? (I realize you get what you pay for)

Sometimes you get a lot less. Most here default to Sylvania Silverstars for superior light output without converting to HID and the attendant problems.

Protecting the lenses is important also. http://www.stongard.com

They become cloudy and pock marked from wear with exposure.

Just for the record I love your Y33 its one of the best in the USA

I just won't be calling any 97-01 Y33's a Q45...

I think my next nissan will be a Gx35... I hope.

I want to have the following:

My 1994 Active Grn\Tan VIP'd out JP style (sun shades ect.)

1991 Active BLk\BLk for tuning and modding.1993 M30 Cov Blk\Tan2002 M45 Silver\Blk

1999 Y33\Q41 Silver\Blk2004 Q45 P2004 Gx35

2006 M35 4WD2005 Qx56

That shold work for a little while.list not in order of importance.

Not as bad as saying the Q45 has VTECH....I Guess... I could here you guys sharping the pitchforks...

On all 3 Q45, for all road illumination including fogs, except on the FY33 low beam HID. Had for a couple of years on my t model G50 so far with no issues.

IMO, the people that need to get over it are the elitists that continue to diss the 2nd gen Q45 with this Q41 bull$hit. Green, I could care less that you like my Q45, you are not the manufacturer, therefore, you didn't get to decide what model car to name it. I could also care less what the almighty Qtech calls it either. I respect his mechanical knowledge and take his words as I see fit, but that's it.

I suppose you could say I sould care less what other poeple call my car, but the end all fact is that it's a Q45 from Infiniti, like the name or not. To me it's a continuing insult from the one group of people who's opinions I value on this car, fellow Q45 owners.

If the Y33 wasnt a Q45, infiniti would not have named it that PERIOD!

If this was true, when BMW switched the 740 motor from a 4.0 to a 4.4, why wouldnt they have called it a 744?

It's still a Q45.

I have been thinking about doing the HID conversion...

You can get the HID lights on ebay, in H4 (for high and low beams) for like 250... Look up pics from docsmile71 in the photopost.. Looked real nice...
