as far as bulb life, which one last longer?? I'm debating whether or not to go with HID fog lights for an 09 altima 2.5s or OEM fogs with LED bulbs. Do LED bulbs last longer than HID bulbs??

LED fogs are a scam, they have no light output.

Get 55W halogens or yellow HID's.

what about HID simulators for fog lights with the upgraded wiring harness?? I was looking at the HID simulators that are rated at 80w/100w and thinking about getting the 22ga upgraded wiring harness

they're higher rated low/high beam bulbs. Like low beams are usually 55w, high beams at 65w. The HID simulators are rated at 80w/100w but they require upgraded wiring harnesses so that they don't melt the factory wiring because of the high voltage and they're almost as bright as HIDs.

So pretty much a normal high wattage bulb...they won't last long for sure.

PIAA has a nice selection, the Plasma Ions and Hella's Yellowstars.

Or, if you can find them, Narva gold.

so for longevity, it's just better to go with Sylvania Silverstar Ultra H11's or 35w H11 HID's??

Are the fogs projector type?

If so, go for the HID's, if not go for the bulbs mentioned above. They won't be as yellow, but will produce a niceeeeeee light.

my 09 2.5s didn't come with fogs, so I'm debating whether or not to go with OEM clear fogs or the halo projector fogs, then not sure whether to go with HIDs or regular white or yellow halogens. Is it better to go with 65w high beam bulbs or the 55w low beam bulbs??

Don't the OEM's use H11-55's?

yes I think the H11's are 55w. Maybe I could put upgraded wiring harness to use the 65w high beam bulbs. Or is it illegal to have a high beam for fogs??

I'm pretty sure the H11-55's come with one filament :S

Haven't seen any high beam/low beam ones. Just make sure it's the right bulb, it usually says "fog lamps" on the back of the package. You have to get the specific bulb, or the cut off won't be correct.

does anyone have a preference to the color of fogs?? is it better to match the color to the low beams or is there better light output with yellow HID fogs??

the output of HIDs is bright enough that you don't really use your high beam halogens??

the OEM highs are actually bright enough to do the job, i just don't use my highs enough to justify HIDs though

You guys know that "high" and "low" doesn't mean for the output right?

nope didn't know that! I thought low beams were just lower output and high beams were higher since they're 65w as opposed to 55w with low beams.

Actually now i've realized what they mean by low/high beams....with the OEM halogens, you can see where cutoff is with low beams and you can see where the high beams continue on.

I guess on my old 96 corolla, the low beams didn't have that distinctive horizontal cutoff...

They're barely brighter, take a look at aftermarket bulbs, some of them are listed as 80W/65W

Low and High

Higher wattage = Shorter Life Span.

HID's should last longer, depends on quality.

Also, what kind of fogs are you going for? OE or aftermarket? Any particular style?
