I have halogen headlights and fog lights in my car. I ordered 2 DDM 35W 8000K HID kits for my low beams and fog lights. I was wondering if the fog light installation is as easy as the low beam installation in this tutorial http://www.nicoclub.com/archives/afterm ... ltima.html ? Or will I have to remove the front bumper? Is there a step by step guide like the one for the headlights?

You probably can reach the foglights through the wheel well, but to be honest, it would be way easier just to take off the bumper and install them so you don't get frustrated and mount them in a bad position. It's not hard at all to take off the bumper, and it'll make things a lot easier.

its super easy. just get under the car and take off the plastic mud/wind gaurd thing and then your fogs will be in plain sight. It's like seven tabs and a couple screws. just get under there and look and you'll save money

If you have to take the bumper off to begin with it is way easier to do the fogs then, but if you are doing the headlights through the wheel well then It would just be easier to do what alex said and take the plastic underneath the car off.

Just put them in today. Finding where to mount the ballasts was the only frustrating part. On the left side I mounted both ballasts on the support bar and on the right side I mounted the ballast for the fog light near the cap of the windshield wiper fluid. Then for the low beam ballast on the right side, I mounted it on the support bar but the cover of the ballast (silver part) is touching the plastic/wheel well that covers it. Will the ballast get hot enough to melt through that ??? I don't want any fire hazards while driving lol. Where did you guys mount yours ?

I can't even remember where I mounted mine for my low beams lol. I didn't take off the bumper though, so it was a little frustrating.. I should probably go get some doublesided tape and check them out to make sure they're still somewhat securely held haha.

I reccomend bolting/screwing the bracket for the ballasts and not mounting using tape. I had outdoor double sided 3m tape rated to hold 10LBS and it came loose from the clean flat metal surface I mounted it to. The one ballast came loose in the first week most likely due to engine bay heat, drug it down the street. My HID install was for the fogs on the SE-R, but on previous installs on my other car I ounted a ballast near plastic and It never got hot enough to melt or damage plastic. I had the same concerns as you.

Ohh ok that's good. I used zip ties to mount mine and I heard I should put electrical tape on it cause it might short out eventually ?

I'm still a noob at all this lol. Where exactly would I put the electrical tape? Over everything? The ballast itself? Or just the wires? :gotme
I don't want to unmount all of them to do this lol

The cheap HID kits I've dealt with have two termials that go into the backside of the plug making them pretty much universal. you will want to wrap the electrical tape around the plug itself and part of the way down the wires. Do this to create as best of a seal as you can to prevent shorting out in event of water leakage.
