oK before anybody flames me, yes, i tried searching, and couldn't find an answer. so here it is:

So i bought this HID kit on ebay for $150. I brought it to a shop today. I come back later and they tell me they can't install it because the bulbs won't fit inside the housing, that is w/o damaging the bulb. The housing was too small for the H1 bulb to fit in. They said there's no possible way any HID bulb can fit inside the housing, unless I use a dremel tool, and clear some room. I have a 95 240sx s14 w/ s15 headlights. Is there any way to install HID's inside s15 headlights? Please give me feedback if you can.

Thank You for reading my post btw. ;D

Can you post a pic of the bulb? It might just be a crappy ebay kit. People do use HID bulbs in S15 headlights, so yes, it can be done.

Maybe your mechanic doesn't know what he's doing with the new lights? Never know...

Btw thanks for replying in my thread.

Yah unfortunately it is one of those cheap ebay kits. However the dude who i bought the kit from said he installed it on his own brother's silvia. Of course, he hasn't proven that to me yet.

I'll try to get pics and post them. I'm going to try and figure this out myself. I'll keep everybody updated.'

Oh and thanks for the hope. I"m glad HIDs will work on my headlights.

I can't tell u if H1 is standard for the s15 headlights. I"m trying to figure that out. Yes, there's a label that says H1 on the box the bulbs came in.

I'm beginning to question the mechanic who I brought the bulbs to. The other day I tried putting the H1 bulb in, and it seemed it would fit into the socket. I think the mechanic got confused because right now i'm using the headlights in the center. But there's also bulbs on the ends of the headlights, whose sockets seem to have enough room to fit an HID bulb.

Sounds confusing, but i'll post pics to show you guys what I mean.

Thanks for reading and looking into this guys.

Ok I got some new insight today. I told my friend about the fitment problem with the HID bulbs fitting inside my S15 headlight housing. He said the sockets I was looking at, were the high beam sockets. In other words, I can fit the HID bulbs into the highbeam housings, but that would mean the lights would spray everywhere, and blind everybody. He said best method is to fit into the housing with the projectors. Now I run back into the fitment issue. I want to install my HID bulbs inside the housing where my current bulbs are in, but the housing and socket is too small for the HID bulb to fit.

Can anybody give their take on this? Any hints/tips?

Btw thanks for reading this far and taking the time off your busy lives. Appreciate it.

I ran into the same issue. I bought a CATZ h1 conversion kit and the rebased bulbs don't fit in the shallow lowbeam housing. Just to try, I tried 2 other brands and none fit. The only way to install HID s15 headlights is to buy oem HID housings, etc. They weren't cheap!!
