Ok, I have a 2001 Infiniti QX4, and as of right now I got both bulbs working fine. Issue started off as passenger side headlight out....so I ordered a bulb without ever checking the fuses (I didn't know HID's had fuses) Very very long story short......passenger side fuse was blown and that was why bulb was not working. Could a ballast that is going bad cause the fuse to blow? At one point I switched the ballast from passenger side to drivers side and then that fuse blew. I then switched the ballast back...installed new bulbs and fuses and now everything is working ok.

I did notice that the color of the bulbs don't match though.....installed 2 brand new Phillips 85126 HID bulbs. I would post a few photos but have never figured out how to do that on this forum.

to post a picture you have to host it on a image site, like imageshack.com or photobucket. Once its uploaded, you have to copy the image link url (blah blah blah.jpg) then come back here to post.

you type [ img ] enter your URL here [ /img ] <---- take out all the spaces, it wont let me show u the text unless I added spaces, when they are removed and your link inserted, only the image shows, not the words.

Im not positive on the HID problem though

it probably is most likely the ballast going bad, usually hid light draw less current than the stock halogen bulbs, my hids are 35 watts and stock halogens are 55 watts and up,so blowing a fuse in the cars fuse-box should not be so easy, the actual relay harness on the hid setup also has its own fuse on the wire that connects to the positive battery terminal so you can check and make sure that is in tact to, but your problem is probably a bad ballast.

Yup it must have been a bad ballast because I replaced it today with a used one I got off eBay for $100. Dealer wanted almost $600. Both headlights are working and have new Phillips Germany 85126 hid bulbs...the color is closer to the white of halogen but I read that they will get the bluish tint after about 100 hours of use. Also replaced the corner bulbs with amber LEDs.

glad your problem got fixed, but that's pretty expensive for a ballast lol, i paid about $65 total for my headlights and foglight's with 4 ballasts and a relay kit purchased on ebay also, you can see the setup i have on my user picture to the left, these lights have been running solid for over a year and they come with warranty

I purchased a used OEM headlight ballast.....cheapest one on eBay....most go for 150 to 200 used each! You must have bought all aftermarket bulbs and ballast for that price.

There are two different ballast for the QX4 and mine is the one with two plugs on it which seems to be the more expensive one. The ballast with the single plugs were a lot cheaper at around $60-$100 each used. I was not exactly sure how to go about wiring in a aftermarket ballast and I did not want to cut wires.

for aftermarket hid setup like mine, the only wires you might have to cut are the stock fog light power wires, if you don't have fogs then no worries there lol, the hid relay will plug into your stock headlight connector and then the wires from there lead to the ballasts and then the wires from the ballasts go to the hid bulbs
