Can someone explain how it works? Is the system durable, and how much is it to repair when it goes, if it does. DO tie rods wear out?

The HICAS Steers the rear wheels. At hiway speedsi t steers same direction as fronts but at lot less angle, making for better stability in turns.

At low speeds it steers opposite angle, for better turn radius.

Was part of the "touting" package avalable for J30's and Q45's .

It must be Pretty reliable since we have never heard complaints about it, even here.

Rapair is prob not cheap, but then not much is, on hi end cars.

My new Q that I am getting soon ,has it, as it's a 94t..

Steer is too strong a word, since the rear wheels move minutely.Rear changes a few degrees at most vs the fronts up to 35 degrees.Very reliable system never seen one fail unless in an accident.

Just like the front the rear tie rod ends fail eventually at 150-200k.

auto-x'ers complain about it and usually have it converted over or removed. Personally it's an option I could live without as it's added weight and just more fluid to change and maintain.
