I intend on taking the rb20 from my wrecked s13 and putting it into my new s13 which is a HICAS car (old car is not hicas). Obviously I already have a fully functioning wiring harness from the wrecked but is there any additional wiring needed for the ABS and hicas to work properly in the new car? I'm not sure if the ABS or hicas is entirely mechanical or if there is some electronic aspect to them I need to worry about. If anyone could lead me in the right direction here and clear up this issue for me I would greatly appreciate it. Also, if there is something with the wiring that needs to be done, any information on how to go about doing it would really help. Thanks guys

can't speak for HICAS but as far as ABS goes, it is completely independent of the engine ECU, and belongs to the body of the car. Thus, keep all the s13's ABS wiring and controller intact and on the car, and it will work.

I had no problems keeping ABS on an s14.

abs is part of the efi harness but not connected to the ecu, ive hybridized a few abs car harnesses now and they all work when im done.

Is that to say the ABS will not work unless something else is wired up? Is simple to do? Do you know if hicas is an issue at all?

I have a hicas car with rb20det in it. As far as I remember, all I had to do was wire up the ps sensor like normal and make sure the wire for speed sensor is wired to ecu.

One thing to watch out for: depending on the mounts you are using, (I have top mount), there is a piece of the hicas in the way of the passenger side. If you can, relocate that piece some where else before attempting to drop the engine in. I haven't seen ABS covered in any wiring guide. I have my ABS all wired up, but I had to disable it when I went to 5 lug. If you are using your original harness, I don't think you will have a problem here. I used a separate harness so I wouldn't have to chop up my original in case I made any mistakes. I ended up pulling the pins out of the brown plug that go to the front abs sensors and ran them through the firewall to the other brown plug. This way I left the plastic plugs in place and didn't have to splice anything.

Hope that helps.
