To those who have done it, how difficult is the complete removal of the HICAS? I was thinking of getting the kit and doing it myself but was wondering if I'd need a hand or not.

To disable HICAS, its pretty easy. You just need to replace the HICAS cylinder in the rear (bolted to the dif) with a solid bar. Then you need to remove the control valve thing behind the right headlight and connect two banjo fittings with a collar.

sorry to thread jack

but ive only had my 300zx for about 6 months and it is by far the most powerful car i have ever driven. i see much talk about removed the hicas and blah blah blah, some people say it is cool, many people say it affects their driving capabilities in a negative way

i cant imagine that the 300zx being the only car that has a feature like hicas. can someone walk me through why you would want to remove hicas?

to me, i think it's cool and when i take sharp turns it feels great

It's good for day to day driving, but for track use, it makes the car unpredictable and sometimes difficult to handle. It all depends on what you do with your car.

Not much harder or pretty much the same thing?

Nope. Skylines had it as well. I don't think the new GT-R has it though.

Nope. You should do it yourself.

wow, I'm glad you posted that link to CZP, that's basically what I'm looking for without spending like $600. I just really want to get rid of that huge a** solenoid under the hood lol.

i did mine for about $250. $165 for the hicas bar, and $85 for a N/A pump, bracket, resevoir, and bolts from a parts car.

the rear removal is very simple, nothing hard about it. changing the parts under hood is time consuming. once you get all the pipes off, you cant see any of the bolts for the power steering pump and it is quite cramped. it can be done with patients and time.

Is there a difference between the Z1 and the Edge Racing version?

Anyone? I noticed in the pictures the Z1 one seems to come with a small rubber piece but the other one come with a few other nuts and bolts. Why is there a difference?

Hey guys, I decided to just get the bar and it arrived today. I was rereading the instructions on how to install it and this is the first step:

"Remove both of the HICAS high pressure lines going into the rack and the two bolts securing the rack to the rear subframe. It's not required but feel free to remove the HICAS high pressure lines and components all the way from the rack to the front of the car, even all the way up to the point that the (2) high pressure lines run into the HICAS solenoid on the RH front apron."

If I remove the lines, will I have to remove everything else up front or not? If I don't remove them will anything leak from them?

Also at the end of the install do I have to top off any liquids?

To do this removal, do you have to replace the pump with a NA pump?

Not for the bypass. It comes with a set of banjo bolts that will bypass the solenoid, and you install the delete bar in the rear.
